Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica D. Helm.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Erica D. Helm, and if you had told me years ago that I’d be a missionary, an author, creating music with artificial intelligence, and building businesses all at the same time, I probably would’ve laughed.
I gave my life to Christ in 2009, and from that moment my life took a completely different direction. God began opening doors I never expected. He gave me a heart for His Word, for missions, and for helping people grow in their faith.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving on mission trips in several countries, meeting incredible people from different cultures, and seeing firsthand that God’s love speaks every language. Those experiences changed me.
I’m naturally curious, so when modern technology—and especially artificial intelligence—began changing the creative world, I didn’t see it as something to fear. I saw another tool that could be used with wisdom and integrity. Today I use it to create music, write, develop faith resources, and help bring ideas to life that encourage people and point them toward hope.
Whether I’m serving on a mission field, writing, creating music, or building something new, my heart is still the same. I simply want to use the gifts God has given me to make a difference in people’s lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, life is never a smooth road. If it were, I don’t think it would be called life. Challenges are part of living. They’re also the very things God uses to build our character, strengthen our faith, and remind us that we were never meant to do life on our own.
I’ve walked through seasons of financial uncertainty, health challenges, and what I call the dry place—those long seasons where you’re praying, trusting, and waiting, and it seems like nothing is happening. During those times, I’ve learned that people sometimes put an expiration date on grace. They may give up on you because they don’t understand what God is doing behind the scenes.
But I’ve learned to ask a different question. Instead of asking, “God, why aren’t You moving?” I ask, “Lord, what are You doing in me while I wait, and what would You have me do?” Waiting isn’t wasted. It’s often where God does His deepest work. Like a seed growing beneath the soil, you may not see anything happening, but that doesn’t mean God isn’t working.
Had it not been for my faith and those daily conversations with God, I don’t know how I would’ve made it through some of those seasons. Looking back, I can honestly say that the waiting wasn’t about God forgetting me—it was about God preparing me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve always been creative. I started writing when I was about ten years old, and over the years I’ve realized that creating is one of the ways God wired me to serve people. It’s where I find joy, and honestly, it’s also one of the ways I process life. Sometimes I can express something through a song, a devotional, a poem, a website, or a new idea long before I can explain it in conversation.
Today I wear quite a few hats. I’m a missionary, author, songwriter, producer, and I design web-based applications and digital resources that help people grow in their faith. I’ve also recently been called into pastoral leadership. I lead an online Bible-reading community called I Read The Whole Bible Every Year, along with our companion podcast, IRTWBEY 365, where my heart is to remove the fear and intimidation many people feel about Scripture and help them discover that God’s Word is practical wisdom for everyday life.
I’m also launching His Wisdom Reigns, where I offer two different kinds of one-on-one support. Faith coaching is ongoing — we meet regularly and work through real goals and decisions together, grounded in biblical principles, much the way a life coach works. Faith companionship is something else entirely. It’s a listening ear. There’s no program and no file. You bring what you’re carrying, we talk it through, and that conversation belongs to you. Both exist because people need someone to walk alongside them, and not everyone needs the same kind of walking.
One of the greatest gifts God has given me is the ability to adapt. I genuinely enjoy learning new technology and finding creative ways to use it for something meaningful. In this season, that includes working with modern technologies like large language models and other AI tools. Rather than replacing creativity, they’ve given me more time to focus on what matters most—creating, serving, teaching, and encouraging others. What once took days or weeks can often be accomplished in hours, allowing me to devote more energy to the people I’m called to serve.
I believe creativity is one of the ways we reflect the Creator. When we invite God into the process, creating becomes less about striving and more about stewardship. My desire is to use every gift He’s entrusted to me—whether through writing, music, technology, or missions—to help people encounter biblical truth in ways that are practical, approachable, and life-giving.
If anything sets me apart, it’s probably the combination. It isn’t common to find someone serving on a mission field, building web applications, writing devotionals, and producing music. For years I thought those were separate parts of my life that had nothing to do with each other. God showed me they were one calling — He just gave me more than one language to say it in.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a project. It’s the journey. God has allowed me to serve in several countries and share the gospel with people of every age and background. That’s not something I accomplished. It’s something God did, and I still don’t take one bit of it for granted.
What are your plans for the future?
The future is probably what excites me the most because I feel like everything God has been doing in my life has been preparing me for this next season.
For the first time publicly, I’ll share that I’m developing what I call a Kingdom ecosystem. It’s a vision the Lord placed on my heart after years of praying, “Lord, give me wisdom. Give me witty ideas. Bless the work of my hands, and enlarge my territory—not so I can build my own platform, but so I can serve more people.”
Looking back, I can see Him answering that prayer in ways I never expected. The Kingdom ecosystem isn’t something I simply dreamed up one day. It’s the result of years of God connecting experiences, people, opportunities, and ideas into one unified vision.
While I can’t share every detail just yet, the heart behind it is simple: to care for the whole person—spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Rather than treating people in pieces, I want to help people flourish as whole individuals. Through ministries, wellness initiatives, educational resources, technology, music, and other creative ventures, my hope is to create an ecosystem where biblical wisdom meets everyday life.
One area I’m especially excited about is music. Music is a universal language that has the power to cross cultures, generations, and backgrounds. God has brought music back into my life, but this time with a much deeper purpose—to create songs that deposit hope, faith, and life into people.
I’m currently introducing God On Our Side, a country gospel album released under my music collective, Incomparable Virtuoso, and it’s been encouraging to see how people are responding to the music. It’s especially meaningful to be partnering with AI Broadcast Media, where my country music project will be featured as one of the platform’s first country artists. I believe it’s a wonderful opportunity to show how faith, creativity, and modern technology can work together to reach people in fresh and meaningful ways.
I’m also looking forward to leading more people on international mission trips. Missions have a way of changing your perspective. They remind you that every person bears the image of God, teach you to steward your resources with greater gratitude, and cultivate a deeper compassion for people from every walk of life.
Ultimately, I don’t want to be remembered simply for the projects I created. I want to leave behind a legacy of people whose lives were strengthened because of them. If something I wrote, built, sang, or shared helped someone discover hope, grow in wisdom, or take one step closer to God, then I’ll consider my life well spent.
