Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin-Audrey Allen.
Erin-Audrey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Erin-Audrey Allen. In 2017, I lost 70 lbs and started teaching Zumba classes at Youfit Health Clubs. Following the start of my Zumba class, I started law school. I am currently a 3L at Thurgood Marshall School of Law. I am set to graduate early, in December. Balancing a stressful study schedule and being a fitness instructor has its struggles. Zumba has been an excellent stress reliever for me. Since joining Youfit, I have doubled my class size. Some people have even said they only keep their membership so that can come to my class. I absolutely love it. Becoming a lawyer is my number one goal, but so far, being an instructor is one of my biggest achievements.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Yes, definitely. Stress creates terrible eating habits that can hinder a fitness instructor.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Zumba Fitness Instructor. I specialize in creating dances that get the heart rate up but are so fun you don’t realize you’re working out. My class is known for its party environment and great music. I am most proud of the results my students see in class. What sets me apart is that I am also a full-time law student.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I would eventually like to have my own law firm and my own fitness studio.
