Meet Eryn Pernarelli of Alpine Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eryn Pernarelli

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Currently, I own a thriving yoga studio here in the Woodlands, Texas. How I got here, however, was from a very different path. In 2008, I was inspired to start a college degree program in Denver, Colorado with a major in Integrative Therapeutic Practices. This degree would have given me the education to become an integrative therapeutic practitioner. I was inspired to do this, because I had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and I was told from doctors that I would never be able to function again. I went to a holistic medicine practitioner, and she healed me within six months. I started going to school while working, full-time, and raising two young kids as a single mom. However, in 2012, our lives got turned upside down when we had to quickly move to Spring Texas. In my attempt to keep my college education going, I continued at Sam, Houston State University to major in Psychology. At the time, Texas did not offer any degree program that had to do with holistic healing and wellness. Finally, I graduated with my bachelors degree after 7 years of taking college courses, and raising my kids, I entered the workforce into a psychiatric hospital local to this area. I was determined to make my mark in the health and wellness realm in whatever way I could
through helping individuals who needed it the most. I worked at the center as a liaison for five years, but eventually found myself perplexed and continuously unfulfilled by the continuous revolving door of patients in and out of the building with no real support, or outpatient programs to welcome themselves into when they leave the hospital. The idea for my Yoga Studio struck while I was on on my lunch break. I was streaming with ideas, and so inspired to start my business. In 2017, I opened my first location of my yoga studio in Conroe, to make my mark in this holistic healing realm. Nearly 7 years later, I’ve grown my community, and we help individuals every day. I have two yoga studios that supply yoga, meditation, events, and workshops. I also practice life coaching to coach others through life, changes, troubles, and many other realms of hardship. We are a safe space to express emotions, and a space for a like-minded community together and find their place through the common goal of health and wellness. A fun tidbit about the name of our yoga studio, Alpine is a reference to the mountains of Colorado, where I was born and raised.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As my initial plan was to become an integrative therapeutic practitioner, the move to Texas from Denver Colorado was a huge transition. Not only did I uproot my college education, but I also uprooted my kids out of their school. This was a huge step back into my original plan, but I quickly rerouted into psychology with a plan to help people with psychiatric illness. If I did not move to Texas, Alpine Yoga would not be what it is today.

Covid was a huge obstacle along the road. Covid actually shut down my original studio, and I sold my building. I thought that was the end of the studio in 2020, but through a miracle, I got the opportunity to team together with another yoga studio in the area, and through this marriage of businesses, Alpine Yoga was able to survive and thrive.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What does success mean to you?
Success is living your life with purpose. Success to me isn’t measured by material possessions, the size of your house, the newness of your car, or the status of your title. Success to me is the ability to live your life with a clearly defined purpose that fulfills you each and every day.
