Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan Moyo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, My story begins in 2016 in the heart of Southern Africa, in Country called Zimbabwe. It was during this time that I decided to leave the county from the high school in which I had been a student for four years at St Johns College Zimbabwe. I decided to move to further my studies in South Africa at Alma Mater International school. This was the beginning of a new chapter in my life as I had left my friends, family and loved ones behind, the drastic change was not easy, but like Eleanor Roosevelt once said “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” I had not been used to being away from home for years, but some things cannot be taught; they must be experienced. You never learn the most valuable lessons in life until you go through your own journey. To my surprise, I was welcomed with such genuine love by the Alma Mater Team, this made it easier for me to adjust into a new environment as a very introverted foreigner.
Due to my ambitions in always doing the extraordinary and undertaking tasks above my age, I managed to work for one of the biggest Real Estate companies in South Africa, where I worked as the assistant to the Managing director, it was here where I gained strategic thinking skills, problem-solving, leadership skills and an understanding of the latest management at the age of 18. Simultaneously while working, I was progressing with my studies in Chemistry Mathematics and Biology, and it was during mid-2017, where I developed a strong passion for Petro-chemistry. Due to this love and passion, I then opened and official registered my Petroleum company in Zimbabwe, which is today known as Zueth Petroleum. The company came about as an incentive to bring about change and restoration in the unstable Petroleum and energy sector in Zimbabwe, with Zimbabwe suffering from petroleum and electricity shortfalls, importing most of its oil products from Mozambique and South Africa, while spending Millions of dollars each month, having Fuel shortages, ZUETH Petroleum then came up with a Business project to build the first ever crude Oil refinery in the Country.
After meeting with the Minister of Energy in Zimbabwe, he stated that He fully supports the project, and the Government of Zimbabwe is willing to assist where assistance is due. As of today, I currently studying Petroleum engineering at Kansas University in the USA, I am also working with highly accredited Petro chemical engineers from South Africa, with more than 40 years of experience in the Oil and a Gas industry and very experienced team at Zueth Petroleum, of which I am the youngest while being the CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER AND MAJOR SHAREHOLDER, I am proud to announce that we have secured a potential investment of $1 Billion USD from Saud Arabia and a guaranteed investment of $300 million into the company
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been easy, I face challenges on an hourly basis due to my young age undertaking such a mammoth project. Despite this, I appreciate the challenges, I don’t think my journey would’ve been as exciting without experiencing these challenges, I mean experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted, and experience is often the most valuable thing you have to offer. One who conquers the sea today is ready to conquer the ocean tomorrow.
Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly. I work on a three coded mission, I start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly I’m doing the impossible. There are many people in the world who have succeeded in climbing the ladder of achievement.
Some of these people have persevered throughout their career having met what appeared insurmountable obstacles yet overcame these challenges to keep moving forward, such principles is what I’m built upon. Adversity has the same effect on a man that severe training has on the pugilist: it reduces him to his fighting weight. Show me someone who has done something worthwhile, and I’ll show you someone who has overcome adversity. Life keeps throwing me stones. And I keep finding the diamonds.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ZUETH petroleum story. Tell us more about the business.
ZUETH Petroleum is an Oil and Gas refining, marketing and transportation company, that is as of today, aims at constructing a ( 25,000 X 2 BPSD) Phase 1 and 2 oil refinery, in order to supply Zimbabwe with sustainable energy sources, to bring about massive positive change in the petroleum and electrical Industry.
We aim on refining, marketing and transporting products of refining oil e.g. Petrol, naphtha, kerosene, Diesel, lubricating oil, Fuel oil, LPG, LNG and Residue oil both satisfying the local and regional markets. We are currently the only oil refining company, ZUETH petroleum is moving with great resolve and determination on the road of development and prosperity by utilizing hydrocarbon resources to build a modern infrastructure and sustainable knowledge-based economy in Zimbabwe.
In this effort, Zueth Petroleum, as the only Oil and Gas refining company in the country, is at the forefront in helping achieve the vision for sustainable energy, environmental development and massive economic development and providing the country with the much needed foreign currency. We have aligned our operations with the focus on people, performance, profitability and efficiency. Zueth Petroleum is resolved to achieve its strategic objectives to become one of the leading national oil corporations in the SADC region and to ensure the reinforcement of the country’s economic growth and expansion through optimized and safe operations, and asset integrity. Our dedicated workforce is helping us to become a more agile, resilient and sustainable refining company contributing to Zimbabwe’s energy requirements and increasing daily demands.
Zueth petroleum has one aim: the future of Zimbabwe and its People. Our purpose is well aligned with the objectives of Zimbabwe’s national vision, particularly the wise management of exhaustible resources in order to sustain prosperity and ensure that the future generations inherit ample means to meet their aspirations.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Zueth Petroleum is resolved to achieve its strategic objectives to become one of the leading national oil corporations in the SADC region, with high potential of satisfying the international markets over the next five years. Our Team has more than just the desire to own one of the oil companies in the Zimbabwe. ZUETH is to contract a fraction of the planned management team, and qualifications to meet industry standards and demands, such as dedication, persistence, the ability to make decisions, the ability to manage both employees and finances is our major task. Our management plan, along with our marketing and financial management plan will set the foundation for and facilitates the success of our business. Like plants and equipment, people are our resources they are the most valuable asset of our business. Our working policies are dedicated to employees and staff for the important role they will play in the total operation of our business.
We know what skills we possess and those we lack and we will hire personnel to supply the skills that we lack. We will ensure that applicants for supervisory positions, including management, possess the skills to manage and treat our employees fairly, make them a part of the team, keep them informed of, and get their feedback regarding changes.
We at ZUETH believe employees oftentimes have excellent ideas that can lead to new market areas, innovations to existing products or services or new product lines or services, which can improve our overall competitiveness. Additionally, we have a roaster of officers to fill in key positions in the company and we are accepting more resumes.
Those qualified will be contracted as soon as funding is available. We also plan to hire the best professionally trained managers and technicians who are specialized in crude oil technology.
