Meet Enjoli Baldwin of Etre Très Femme Blog & TypeGirl Modeling Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Enjoli Baldwin.

Enjoli, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The voice that would eventually turn into my blog came into existence about 2 to 3 years ago. I was at a place in my life where I was reframing myself and realizing that I needed to take better care of myself. Being on the cusp of womanhood and figuring out what that means was one of the catalysts behind me creating this space. I had gone through some traumatic events in my family and personal life and wanted to be able to go somewhere and feel free. Not having to answer to anyone or explain anything and allow myself to feel freely without acquiescing. I launched my site a little over a year ago and it was the first time in a while I felt like I saw myself again. Etre Tres Femme, which means Very Much A Woman in French, is a space where I feel completely myself and welcomed and my hope is that each person that visits feels the same.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely not, this shit is hard. Being a young woman trying to figure it out in this society is rough but add being a woman of color and having personal obstacles into the mix. One of the biggest challenges I faced was allowing myself to express the voice I had inside. My aunt tells me all the time to be myself and if someone has an issue with it, umm so? You have to take yourself into consideration and be stingy with your energy.

Please tell us about Etre Très Femme Blog & TypeGirl Modeling Agency.
On my blog, I post about everything from the usually fashion and beauty to other topics I’m passionate about such as cultural topics. I encourage my readers to suggest topics to spark conversation as well. Growing up and still now I get asked a lot about my style so the fashion section is a way for me to encompass it and be able to note where I got my pieces from.

My modeling agency, TypeGirl Inc, is a black-owned agency based here in Houston, Texas. It’s a body inclusive agency that believes everyone should be able to live their dream regardless of size, age, gender or color. I grew up doing pageants so modeling has always been apart of my life but I signed with TypeGirl last year. It was very important to me when looking for a manager and agency that it was run by people that had the same values as I and was organization based. I was just named the TypeGirl Madam which is one of leadership positions for the agency and organization.

Both becoming a blogger and taking the leap to sign with an agency were big steps for me and I’m proud of myself for deciding to go for something that makes me happy.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I believe that you are always where you are supposed to be in life in this moment but if I had to start over, I would say yes to a lot more things for myself earlier on. You have to choose to be happy, happiness doesn’t text first.
