Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Michael Glover.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. I moved to Katy, Texas due to Hurricane Katrina. Growing up in New Orleans, I will see movies being made in the city and I was always fascinated by the camera but it didn’t really hit me until I saw the teaser trailer of “Rush Hour 2” starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. At eight years old, that’s when I knew I wanted to be an actor.
So fast forward to now being in Texas due to Hurricane Katrina. Going to middle school, I was always the class clown and when I got to high school, I participated in all of the programs. After graduating, I did plays and short films in and out of college. At 19 years old, I was discovered by an actor who referred me to an acting agency. That changed my life as an actor and more experiences and blessings came by such as being in commercials and feature films. Currently finished a commercial shoot for Huffy Bicycles! Which was I honored and thankful to be part of! As an Actor, I learn to appreciate what art is really about.
God’s Grace people can see me perform in the award-winning Virgin Cheerleaders In Chains which is now available on Amazon Prime, Video On Demand and Blu-Ray! It also has an ensemble cast!! I finished an indie short film I produced and costar in called “Petty Folks” co-directed by Jake Billard, starring Sabrina McMullen, Frazier Demetrius and Betsy Medina. I know I’m called to do this so I’ll do my best to work harder and perfect my craft!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Haha, I wish it was a smooth road! As an actor, I learned to work with the struggles. But it’s not easy some of the struggles dealt with getting replaced by another actor right before a shoot, projects being postponed, waiting to hear back to see if you booked the gig, collaborating with folks where projects didn’t get done (trust me that really sucks) or not having an auditions at times. So you need to be productive, pray, workout and find hobbies to keep your spirit busy. But this field isn’t easy. It’s a beautiful and crazy rollercoaster tho.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Outside of being on set, I enjoy teaching beginning acting for inspiring actors. I love the interaction with my clients!
I specialize in of course acting, but writing and creating new characters! I’m known for playing Dragonball Super Card Game (laughing) there’s a certain card I play which got me clout haha! But the main focus is to grind in the craft.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my goofy, creative and happy personality. I learned to accept what God made me to be and not let toxic people or negativity affect the energy around me.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory was when I went to six flags and sea world with my family.
And another one was when my dad surprised me with this Goku Dragonball Z action figure, haha! I still have till this day hehe!
