Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Hernandez.
Hi Evelyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Photography has always been an interest of mine since I was a little kid.
I loved being able to capture a moment in time and have it forever to look back on so that when I found out I could turn it into a career, my entire life changed. I would take random photos here and there all the way up until my sophomore year of high school. I had a class that year called “Commercial Photography” and they taught me everything camera related. After that, I started taking my passion for photography more seriously. I had an “it’s now or never” mindset so I advertised myself online as a new photographer looking for experience. And the rest is history.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My photography journey has been smooth for the most part- but not 100% of the way.
In the beginning, there was a lot of knowledge about the mechanics of photography that I needed to know but it wouldn’t stick. There was a lot of trial and error as far as posing and composition, especially during my first few sessions (shoutout to everyone who was patient with me as I was navigating during these trying times LOL). I also struggle with social anxiety so there was a lot of self-doubt about whether I could even pursue this career but I’m thankful I pushed through those doubts and I didn’t let them stop me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a photographer and I specialize in all things couples. I absolutely love engagements, elopements, maternity, and
even regular boyfriend/girlfriend couples sessions.
Nothing makes me happier and more fulfilled than capturing the love my clients share for them to look back on forever.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was an all-over-the-place person growing up.
I had interests in just about anything creative: drawing, writing, photography, music, etc. Personality-wise, I’ve always been easygoing. You can tell me just about anything and I will always make it known I am a safe space and judgment-free zone. I’m proud to say I have not changed.
