I started Powetik Waist Beads during my active-duty career. I was going through a really rough time being miles away from family and going through a divorce. I lost myself completely going through so many options. One day, I decided I wanted more; I wanted something to motivate me to keep going in life. I knew I wanted to make
More money, so I came up with waist beads with my friend’s charity. Started researching. I used the last 50 dollars I had left, went to Hobby Lobby, and went to creating. I was so inspired and loved the way making waist beads make me feel. As a domestic violence survivor, I found myself & now a successful business owner striving for more. I’ve been able to ship to 45 states and 6 international countries. Each lady has been embracing their waist. My goal is for all woman around the world to embrace their waist.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. I’ve gotten my business Instagram hacked at 2,000 followers. Then my TikTok permanently banned from people reporting my lives. Most of my orders come from my TikTok live. I’ve also recently been told I have nerve damage in my right and left hand, which does slow me down when it comes to making waist beads, bracelets, or customizing crocs. Lastly, I had a two-month delay with usps backed Up on numerous of my customers’ orders.
