Today we’d like to introduce you to Ferrell E Phelps, Celebrity Photographer.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ferrell. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a self-taught photographer known for taking on projects that make a difference in the world. I have authored four books the latest being released Sept 7th, of this year, I was nearly blinded at the age of 11 by a fireworks incident that nearly hindered my vision I could never had become a photographer thank God for the quick response from my parents to get me to the emergency room.
I recall doctors saying had we not made it in that time my vision could have been lost. I have had the pleasure to work with many mainstream celebrities such as Destinys Child Letoya Luckett and Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Price, Dionne Warwick, Shaquile O’neal Nancy Wilson Delta Burke and many others, I speak to youths at various schools to empower them and make a difference in their lives.
My latest project is the skin I’m in given birth due to an experience I had while in Stutgart ,Germany when a negative remark was made about skin color and it really resonated with me as to how we judge others simply based on melanin something we didn’t choose but was God-given at birth, this project has been the most gratifying undertaking of my career I had no idea my facebook post would go viral literally all over the world including India and Africa. The models in this project were often times feared by society based on their appearance and unique skin types including Albinism, vitiligo, nevus and so forth. I will attach images to give you all a much clearer idea of the project, I also own a studio in which I film my talk show The Ferrell Phelps Show that tackles real life issues and community. my goal is to make a difference in the world through the gift that God has allowed me to have in all areas of my life and the lives of other.
Has it been a smooth road?
Its been a tough journey as stated before I was nearly blinded due to a fireworks incident at the age of 11, I also tried 3 times to be hired at a studio before finally getting hired , I was told upon leaving that studio by a regional manager who had always been kind to me but on the day I turned my resignation in he told me to never think about opening a studio and that I would never be successful that remark nearly crushed my spirit being that photography was all that I desired to do in my life at that time, money to open a studio was a challenge and of course creating and keeping business was another challenge however it didn’t stop me.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ferrells Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
