Fiyyaz, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in New York and grew up in Texas. While attending the University of Texas at San Antonio, I had too many startup ideas that I had to try to make happen—so I left university and have been full-steam ahead ever since; building Medology and launching new brands and improving our current telehealth companies. Significant Medology achievements that I am proud of include: STDcheck.com is now a major authority in STD health information and testing. HealthLabs.com is offering an affordable way for individuals to get lab testing regardless of their insurance coverage and is helping diagnose important health issues. UTItreatment.com is a major convenience for women who need UTI diagnosis and treatment.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Initially, building a good technical team with a solid engineering culture was a challenge, but once accomplished, it has been relatively easy to maintain. “A” players are very good at self-policing to maintain team productivity.
Medology – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The brands I have built are solving real health problems, especially in terms of affordability and accessibility. Through Medology’s brands, we offer private lab testing to individuals in nearly every state in the U.S. at an affordable price. We are helping to revolutionize how people get access to affordable healthcare solutions by offering important, and sometimes crucial, lab testing services online. We are most known for our online lab testing brands STDcheck.com, which sells lab testing online for various sexually transmitted infections, and HealthLabs.com, which sells lab testing online across the health spectrum. HealthLabs.com offers more than 500+ lab tests, from simple blood counts and allergy testing to cancer screenings and hormone testing.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
We take great pride in receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from our team on various social media and job sites. It is really inspiring to see how happy people are working here and just how much they believe in our brands and our goals.
