Today we’d like to introduce you to Francesca Porter.
Francesca, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As my passion evolved, I started working with makeup while attending Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas winter of 2012. While employed at Sephora inside Jcpenny, Conroe, Texas; I began makeup applications, demonstrations and makeup certifications and that’s when my makeup career took off.
I also completed my college internship for my Fashion Merchandising degree at Sephora inside JCpenny 2013. Following graduation, I worked for” Sephora” at the Galleria Mall, MAC Cosmetics & Clinique at Nordstrom’s, while still maintaining my personal makeup clientele, tv/public figure, brides, print work, commercial/camera work, birthday queens & prom to name a few. I like making my clients feel beautiful, some of my best work has been as a volunteer. No fee, no charge just the smile on my client’s face is more than enough.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, I have had obstacles throughout my makeup career. My biggest challenge was having confidence in myself and my talent. To stop questioning my abilities or my growth. Although it’s not just in the makeup industry, it is easy to compare yourself to others. I had to learn that I am just as talented as the next artist. Sometimes we can be our biggest critique and put ourselves down before we even start the job. Have confidence in everything you do and that will always show.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fancy Flawless Faces – what should we know?
My company “Fancy Flawless Faces” is known for specializing in makeup artistry application, makeup lessons or even a makeup party. I travel to my clients from the southeastern parts of Houston through The Woodlands. My volunteer work for women who are battling breast cancer or are in remission and recovering has been my best work. I travel to you, pamper you and just want to put a smile on my client’s face. I ask questions to find out what is desired and what isn’t about your current makeup routine. “Fancy Flawless Faces” my business is known to be knowledgeable, consistent, professional and attentive. Those reasons separate me from others along with obvious dedicated experience in the industry.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My ability to really unlock what my client is looking for, my attention to the needs/wants is what contributes to my success as a makeup artist. From my experience, its all about making my client happy, not just completing the work. Who doesn’t want someone to listen to them, not just hear and do, but really observe and bring it all back with a flawless finish.
