Today we’d like to introduce you to Franky Cardona.
Hi Franky, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a child. Art is something I was always interested in as long as I can remember. As I got older, I would draw here and there but I let life get in the way and stopped for a bit. Once social media came along it sparked something back up, and I started drawing and painting again. Then I started networking through social media, and I was able to connect with clients from all over who were interested in my art. I worked in the railroad as a track laborer for 8 years before I decided to make the jump and pursue Art full-time.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road… Just like any other dream or passion you follow there are going to be ups and downs, but believing in your vision along with consistency will overcome those obstacles. I have been blessed with a lot of people who support my art, so that helps a lot.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love and specialize in painting portraits and people because of the challenges it takes to make sure the painting looks like the picture but also because I think every face tells a story. I paint them on canvases for collectors to collect along with murals around the city and other cities/states.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The culture for sure. It’s so diverse. I also like how the city is accepting the art community more and more and being open-minded to the creative minds. As far as what I like the least, I can’t really say because I love and appreciate our city so much. If anything, I would say there’s not enough murals and artwork around, but I like I said that Houston is becoming more open-minded to creatives so that will happen in due time.
