With a passion for childcare, babies, and pregnancy, I began my journey as a pediatric nurse in a hospital in the Czech Republic. After moving to Houston to assist a family with their premature baby, I soon realized the immense need for a center that provided quality education and support for expecting and new mothers and fathers. With the needs and desires of these families in mind, I expanded my services and developed innovative programs to launch Motherhood Center in 2000.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Simply developing the concept of Motherhood Center was a challenge — there wasn’t anything remotely similar to mimic or draw ideas from. We were really pioneering the industry. Since we have 11 different departments under one roof, the greatest challenge we face on a day-to-day basis is staying on top of the market and consistently delivering the latest’s and greatest to our clients in all that we do. The pregnancy/baby industry has since blown up and our services are in high demand. From maternity and newborn photography, massages, education, and fitness, to retail, children’s classes, and in-home childcare — we have a vast array of services that constantly evolving and all require special attention and constant development.

Nestled in the established River Oaks community, Motherhood Center is a pregnancy health and wellness service provider focused on educating, supporting, and nurturing both the physical and mental wellbeing of expectant and new moms. Motherhood Center has impacted the lives of over eighteen thousand infants, parents, and families and we continue to grow organically, adapting services and programs to support the evolving needs of Houston’s expectant and new families. With over 11 different departments under one roof, we are the only pregnancy health and wellness center in the United States dedicated to supporting families from pregnancy to parenthood.
Aside from offering classes and services at the Motherhood Center, we also offer a variety of in-home nanny and babysitting services. Houston’s busy executives and professional parents turn to Motherhood Center to help them find quality childcare. We know that a caregiver is a valuable extension of a family and by combining both the client’s childcare needs and parenting preferences, we successfully match our highly-skilled child care professionals with families demanding superior domestic help.
Of course, the service that started it all continues to be our most sought after. Often referred to as a baby doula, postpartum doula, or night nanny, our Newborn Care Specialists are highly trained professionals providing physical, emotional, and educational support to families with newborns during the weeks and months following birth. From the moment, a new baby is brought home, our specialists are there to ease the transition to parenthood by mentoring new families with hands-on instruction and expert guidance. A Newborn Care Specialist will help new parents to recognize the needs and natural rhythms of their baby. Parents learn to understand their baby, trust their own instincts, and ultimately gain confidence in their parenting. This incredibly special service is the foundation of what Motherhood Center was built on and continues to be one of the most rewarding aspects of our business.
Our mission has remained the same for over 15 years by offering exceptional pregnancy and parenting education classes, private services, personalized support, and specialized retail products. Many of our clients refer to us as the “Mommy Country Club”, and the center has become known for cultivating both an empowering atmosphere and a sense community amongst our clients and the Houston community.
My husband Gary, who is also the CEO of Motherhood Center, has remained a constant support and become an incredible business partner in this venture. Over the years, we’ve become a great business team and having his guidance in times of growth and obstacles is such a blessing.
