Today we’d like to introduce you to Geoffrey Lyon.
Geoffrey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Graduated from University of Houston College of Architecture in 1997 and worked as an architect for 7 years. During my education of architecture, I also received a minor in photography. Started the photography of architecture in 2004 and have been growing the business since then. We now only photograph the built environment including landscapes, commercial and residential projects in Houston and the U.S.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest struggle is keeping the business going and keeping our pricing competitive. Many ‘players’ into the photography business has required us to be vigilant in keeping prices fair and the service of utmost importance. After 13 years in the business, we have a nice following and our clients are really impressed with the service end of things as much as the quality of our photos.

Using your plans and specifications, we then outline your shot list and ideally accompany you on a project walk-through. We use the latest photographic and editing technology, which allows us numerous creative options under even the most aggressive budgets and schedules. What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Starting and staying in business for a good length of time. Many elements dictate that, keeping the quality and service at the forefront of what we do on a consistent basis, whether it’s a warehouse or a major commercial office tower. Repeat clients are also a good indicator of success, especially in a ‘digital’ world, not every photographer offers the complete package like we do.
