Meet Geraldine Boyer of Collectivo in River Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Geraldine Boyer.

Born from a passion for travel and deep love of cultural background, Collectivo made its debut this summer in Houston, Texas. Collectivo is the first Concept Store in the United States dedicated to curate and showcases the best and most coveted Latin American fashion and luxury lifestyle complements (known as “LATAM Glam”).

Founded by Geraldine, Collectivo embraces Latin American talent by hosting collections purely made by Latin American designers, both established & emerging. Collectivo is the first concept store (and location) of its kind in the U.S. Collectivo is located on the second story of the Westheimer Oaks development, neighboring Bosscat Kitchen and Libations as well as Eloise Nichols.

“I’m all about women empowerment and that comes through in the store concept for Collectivo,” Geraldine explained. “My vision for the store is to show the beauty, glamour, and confidence portrayed in the Latin American style and share them with my customers.”

Collectivo is the first concept store in the United States dedicated to curate and showcases the best and most coveted fashion and luxury lifestyle complements (Known as “LATAM Glam”). The store hosts the most au courant names and exceptional labels such as Sandra Weil, Yakampot, Cihuah and Felina from Mexico; Pepa Pombo, Laura Aparicio and Verde Limon from Colombia; Balkanica and Alessandra Petersen from Peru and Isolda from Brazil, among many others.

Guided by a mission to make Collectivo an extension of their home and values, every item is handpicked based on manufacturing excellence and design, while always embracing talent, creativity, and social consciousness. This thoughtful process results in exciting and always evolving edited mixes, where exclusive high-fashion collections mingle impeccably with handmade artisan creations – from the city to the beach and everything in between.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Collectivo open its doors June 2017, a little later than expected, which made the survival of the Houston Summer a big challenge. As we all know, July and August are difficult months for the retail industry and we were not the exception… Unfortunately, once August was ending and sales were expected to pick up, we were hit by Harvey. Even though our team and our people were safe, we were forced to close for a week and weeks following the hurricane have not been easy. Hopefully, things seem to start being more promising for us local businesses.

Collectivo – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I think that personally success is being able to do what you love and what you are passionate about while helping others reach their goals and needs as well. I deeply believe in team work, loyalty and giving back.
