Today we’d like to introduce you to Ginger Barber.

Ginger, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my firm 36 years ago and I’ve never looked back. I am originally from Merritt Island, Florida, and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sarasota’s Ringling School of Art and Design. After gaining invaluable experience from working at the Brownstone Gallery for four years, I decided to form my own company and worked with the Rosewood Corporation in Los Angeles for a year. During this time, I commuted back and forth to Houston, which was exciting but exhausting! With family being one of my top priorities, I decided to trade in my miles for a home base back in Houston. From then on, my business continued to grow, with clients and projects extending beyond Texas to California, New York and London. I have since opened The Sitting Room to showcase my effortless looks with natural hues, textures and subtle repetitive patterns. Come visit!

Has it been a smooth road?
As an interior designer, I often feel pressured to produce perfection. It’s what I strive for with every one of my clients. Scavenging for those out-of-this-world pieces can sometimes cause lots of stress and be an ongoing obstacle.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ginger Barber Interior Design – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I would like to think I specialize in helping my clients discover their vision and then bringing it to fruition. I pride myself on creating these spaces for people that become their urban retreat or beachside oasis; whatever they are wanting, I can help with getting there. My motto is, “keep it simple,” thus my work is uncomplicated. I love creating tranquility in my clients’ homes. Paying close attention to detail is key, but the older I get and the more I see, the more I want statement pieces and less accessories and clutter. I incorporate both contemporary and traditional style in my clients’ homes with classic elements of both past and present.
