Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Williams.
Hi Grace, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Throughout my high school experience, I have always experienced a burning passion for photography and content creation, whether it was posting light-hearted youtube videos or taking photos of my friends, I always knew it was what I wanted to do when I was older. I spent the majority of high school focused on taking photos and posting it as inspiration and encouragement for others. I began to realize how important photography can be in the community and discovered the extensive ways I could use my talents to benefit others. Anything from photographing shelter puppies to help them get rescued or simply capturing the “perfect” family photo for someone’s Christmas card, It was the greatest reward witnessing pure joy be brought to others. My goal for high school was to create a business that not only provided for myself, but the community as well, which I did. The past four years I have photographed countless families, couples, events, and seniors growing my once small business into a completely sustainable job. I have also participated in my school’s journalism team, where I was editor and chief for 3 years. I spent the majority of Friday nights on the football field taking photos and mentoring other students to become great journalists. Photography supplies me with a type of fulfillment I will never be able to replicate and plays a huge part in why I am who I am. As time has passed, my passion has grown stronger and so has my ability to run my own business. The challenge of owning and maintaining a business necessitates a tremendous lot of dedication and hard work. I like owning and operating my own business since it allows me to be self-sufficient while also allowing me to be responsible for something that benefits me and my future. It takes effort, discipline, and a strong work ethic, but acquiring and honing such qualities is essential not only for a business, but also for life. My life goal is to not only run a photography company, but assimilate and encourage the community to explore their own artistic capabilities by opening a studio where clients can explore their own skills. I believe following one’s dreams and finding true happiness is all one needs to find success in the business industry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With success comes hardship, building a business is never a completely smooth road. It was hard in the beginning. Starting at nothing and building it into something great takes time and I often found myself getting discouraged in my work or lack of clientele. However, as I kept persevering I found that no good thing comes fast and it’s often the hobbies you stay dedicated to that will become truly successful.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in lifestyle photography, mostly families, seniors, and couples. I also take sports photography.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I cannot wait to see what the future of photography has in store for me. I will continue to pursue my passion throughout college, and my foreseeable future. I personally have chosen to further my career at Loyola Marymount University in the major of business and media allowing myself to develop my skills as a businesswoman. I hope to have my degree and run and use photography as my complete source of income.
