Today we’d like to introduce you to Grant Almquist.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started in the Houston aquatics industry at 15 as a lifeguard. Made my way up the “ladder” through high school and college while gaining valuable experience. Got offered a job at a pool management company when I graduated in 2005. After that, I worked for a few companies in different areas of the industry including building, repairs, retail, and management. In 2015 I decided to go out on my own with my company and have not looked back since.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Overall I am very satisfied with our travels through small business ownership. Our biggest struggles come with finding quality, long-term employees. I don’t like employee turnover but am finding it is a fact of life in the business world.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a commercial, multi-family exclusive, swimming pool company. I am asked all the time what we do. My reply is once the pool is in the ground we can do anything. We offer services starting at weekly maintenance or chemical management up to full facility renovations and everything in between. Since we are exclusive to our niche we can offer the best and fastest service to our clients. We are known for prompt service and excellent customer service.
We built this company from the ground up while staying 100% debt free. That is one of the things that makes me the most proud of what we’ve accomplished.
Our service, response, and quality of work is what sets us apart. I’ve worked for many other companies which allowed me to see what NOT to do. I took all that info and built our foundation on solid, honest ground.
What were you like growing up?
I was very active as a child. Always playing or competing in some kind of sport. From diving and swimming to baseball and football. Very competitive and driven.
