Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Franklin, Brandy Perry and Rachel Stoerkel.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hailey: Rachel initially brought up the idea of us creating a podcast on one of our FaceTime calls at the end of last year. We all agreed that it was something that we wanted to explore; however, we knew that with our busy schedules, we probably wouldn’t have the time. When COVID happened and the lockdowns began, it freed up the necessary time for us to get to work and hence She Me Her The Podcast was born!
Rachel: Brandy came up with the name because although each word is different, they’re still one and the same, and we felt as though that represented us and what we wanted this podcast to be out. A safe space for us to celebrate our differences while recognizing our similarities.
Brandy: We were blessed enough to find a mentor early before we launched the podcast and he has been an instrumental detail in the development of our business.
Hailey: Through it all, it’s really been the grace of God that’s gotten us to this point.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Rachel: We had to learn the hard way that you can’t record on Squadcast using an iPad.
Brandy: Working through three different timezones and having to do it virtually has been a challenge, especially with all three of us having different work schedules
Rachel: Network issues as well, we kept getting kicked out of Squadcast, which caused recording and editing to be cumbersome.
Hailey: I would say finding our voice and finding our audience was difficult in the beginning but we’re learning it day by day.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
Rachel: Our business is first a podcast and second a sisterhood.
Brandy: The podcast is just an extension of our friendship and where we would typically find healing in FaceTime conversations with each other, we now are sharing that experience with others. We’ve recently developed a worldwide audience in a short time frame so that makes us excited to see what our future holds!
Hailey: We wanted to create a space for people similar to us, women in their mid to late twenties trying to navigate through life and figure things out along the way. Space where we can come together and hit on different topics that are applicable to us, laugh, cry, heal, learn and grow!
Rachel: We believe what sets us apart is the fact that when we initially began the podcast, we made a commitment to make sure to keep God in the middle at all times. In addition, our ability to take what our parents instilled in us and pour into others allows us to have content that’s relatable for a variety of age groups.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Hailey: I don’t think we’d do anything differently. Everything that we went through, the ups and downs, the hiccups, the technological issues got us to where we are today. My parents would always say our setbacks were “teaching moments,” and with that, we were able to learn and grow.
Brandy: We still have more growth and lessons to learn down the line but each lesson makes us become better at our craft.
Rachel: Thankfully, we didn’t have any big lessons to learn, but with each mini-lesson, we’ve learned to appreciate our work even more.
