Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Poinsette.
Hi Haley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi there! My name is Haley, I am currently a 29-year-old General Manager of a Hyperwellness studio in Sugar Land, Texas. I would say that my story started super young, but who has time to type all that out, hahah, so my medium version goes a little like this……
I was a high level athlete most of my life. Dibbled and dabbled in a few sports but ultimately gymnastics stuck for the long haul. I went to high school at Katy Taylor, but was homeschooled the majority of my life, so did not transition into public school until my Sophomore year. I graduated and chose to study Zoology at Arizona State, where I also was connecting with the gymnastics team as a potential walk on student athlete. I spent some amazing time there, making lifelong friends!
I transitioned back to Texas at the end of my Sophomore year of college and went through some time at community college and working! All throughout my college years, I was supervising and coaching at an International Gymnastics Camp during the summers where I would connect with Olympians, USAG National Team Members & Coaches, and the future generations of colleges gymnastics. I was also practicing myself, attempting to get picked up as a transfer student athlete is hard enough but as a gymnast- nearly impossible at that time. Rutgers University saw me during a Thanksgiving clinic one year and they offered me a scholarship. A quick glimpse into the gymnastics world, they were cutting programs and funding like hot cakes for gymnastics. I was offered the scholarship verbally but unfortunately, they cut funding before I could get an official offer.
I then decided to stay home and transfer to The University of Houston- Main Campus! I chose to major in Exercise Science, minor in Nutrition- and for a small time double majored in dance. While at UH I started the club gymnastics team which is still running as a club sport on campus today. After graduating I went into personal and group training full time, I also partnered with businesses in the community to offer fitness and recovery to their clientele on a regular basis. I spent a full 6 years living and breathing training, while also still staying very active myself with activities like obstacle course races, swimming, weight lifting, and anything else I could do to have fun while breaking a sweat.
Throughout this life story of mine- I picked up wonderful people, learned life lessons, enjoyed hobbies like dancing- which I teach on the side for an amazing company called #HEELSOUT. I also have seen lows and hard times, but I believe that there is a lesson in everything, a silver lining to help guide and re-align you during your journey.
I am continuing to grow myself and my business each day, so I am over the moon to move into my lifelong adventure called “Unique Houz”! It is going to be a crazy awesome, modern, efficient, and life-giving location that will offer the community a place to align their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Stay Tuned Friends!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all! I would say that my biggest struggles have come during my adult life. One of the biggest has been building a business. I have done it for myself, but also for a small company, as an individual location. It’s very challenging to get all the moving parts going, staff trained, technology acting right, community connections, and clients in the door. On top of all of the regular operations of the business!
Full transparency, I live for that. So I love to be challenged. I do not like stagnant. Although something is hard, challenging, or seems impossible- we are capable!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My mission for Unique Houz is to create a business that brings together the community with events, pop up markets- while also offering personal training and life coaching. The goal is to allow clients to connect deeper with themselves during their fitness journeys- implementing a healthy lifestyle which includes aspects like nutrition, recovery & injury prevention, life coaching, and more. The desired opening date is set for February 2023!
With that mission in mind, I would say that what sets me apart as a business owner is that I am very in tune with my clientele. I specialize in creating programs that will change their bodies, and also transform their minds. We are all stronger and more positive than we know, the goal is to move my clients to live a life of alignment because that is where their bodies while begin to show and accept the change.
“The healing on the inside, shows on the outside.” -Haley
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Networking with my community! I like to keep it local, supporting artists and creatives in their adventures of building their legacy is really fulfilling for me. I am, at heart an “event host”, so any party or reason to organize one- is where you can find me. I feel along with that, making connections with others is really important because I feel that we are built to have and be in a community together. If you choose to live somewhere, spend your money, and raise your family- why not do business with your neighbor and support the missions you believe in or care about!
