Today we’d like to introduce you to Hana Ahmed.
Hana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am the girl behind Happy Hana Cakes! I’m an accounting student with a passion for baking! When I was younger I was obsessed with cooking and baking. I used to buy new cookbooks from book sales at school or at the Sunday market and try out new recipes – mostly of desserts! Recently, I got into baking again and started baking and decorating my and my sisters birthday cakes. Eventually, some of my sister’s friends started ordering cakes from me and I was thrilled because decorating cakes makes me happy and helps me relieve stress! After much convincing from my close friends & family, I decided to make an Instagram page to showcase my passion and start my own business!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far, I have been fortunate to have a pretty smooth road in this journey. The one thing I struggle with as a baker is being my own biggest critic. Being a perfectionist, I tend to be very hard on myself even when others believe my cakes look good. However, through positive feedback from customers and words of encouragement from followers, I am able to continue this journey and expand my business!

HappyHanaCakes is a bakery run from home. The company specializes in custom cakes, cupcakes and cake pops. What sets HappyHanaCakes apart from others is the fact that all orders are custom to the customer’s requests and made with love and passion! As a company, I am most proud of the following and support I have gotten in such a short while and how much more I will be able to grow!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe the characteristics most important to not only my success as a small business owner but also as a baker is determination and confidence! Without these two characteristics, and of course the support from those close to me, I wouldn’t be where I am today and my business would not be able to grow in the future.
