I have been working in construction my entire life, starting in my early teens working for my dad at his company, BlueLine Construction. When he passed away when I was 19, and I was not educated enough to keep his company, I made it my goal to one day carry on his legacy. Over the next decade I worked offshore as a welder, as an ironworker, in the elevator industry, and finally worked my way up in the field of residential and multi-family construction. A little over a year ago, I was finally able to turn my dreams into reality and open up my own construction company: BlueLine Construction & Remodeling. Carrying on the name of my father’s company and keeping his memory alive is one of the driving factors pushing me to succeed in this field. Just as my parents ran their company, we are family owned and operated. If you call for an estimate, you will be talking with me and if you call the office, you will be speaking with my wife. We strive to bring our clients affordable prices and unbeatable quality in all of our products and workmanship.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
After my father passed away, it was a difficult time for my entire family, and I ended up homeless for a period of time, hopping from couch to couch. Thanks to the kindness of friends and my own perseverance, I was able to get back on my feet and enroll full time in school while working a full-time job. This period of my life taught me so many lessons: the most important being that the world doesn’t owe me anything and the only person who can change my life is me.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is the ability to live the life you want while still being able to focus on the people and things that matter most. There is a phrase that I always go back to “Don’t be so busy making a living that you forget to make a life”. When you are a small business in your first few years, there is definitely a sacrifice made by both you and your family, in the form of time spent together. So success, to me, is being able to spend as much time having fun and building memories with my wife and kids as I do building my business.
