Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Browarek and Lauren Beckemeyer.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
We met as neighbors over seven years ago and became fast friends. The more we hung out, we realized how much we had in common and our love for all things vintage. Once we started having kids, we created our own mini sessions, and the creativity started to flow. We decided to work together as business partners and use this opportunity as a creative outlet for us both. Lauren has an extensive background in photography going as far back as high school, and Heather loved doing all the details. When we decided to go for it, we wanted a way to separate ourselves from the hundreds of photographers in our area. We found a 1967 Shasta mini for sale and thought how cool would it be to have as our mobile studio. Junie is what we named her, and she followed us to all our sessions and inspired us to call ourselves “Happy Camper Photography.” We recently built a home studio and have said goodbye to Junie, though her happy little vintage spirit has stayed with us.
Please tell us about your art.
We truly love meeting new people and helping them create a beautiful memory. We have met so many incredible people; it amazes us every session!
We want our sessions tone stress-free and enjoyable. Working with your best friend makes every session fun. We try out the awkward poses first, laughing through them all and helping our clients feel comfortable. Genuine laughs make the best smiles and great pictures!
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Golly! So many good lessons we learn daily! We say this all the time- we wished we did this sooner.
Don’t be afraid to try something new, even when you’re scared; you will always surprise yourself.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
We are two moms who decided to use the gifts we were given to share with a few others. You can view our work on our social media outlets @happycamperhouston.
