Meet Heavyw8 Chop of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heavyw8 Chop.

Hi Heavyw8, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Arlington Texas to 2 Nigerian immigrants. I was raised in Atlanta, and grew up in St. Louis. I was always interested in fitness as a child. Growing up in the early 2000’s, it was kind of always seen as something the cool guys did. From WWE, to comic books, anime, movies. Everyone was in great shape, thus became something I wanted to emulate. I always played sports as a child. But, Around 10-11 I started doing push ups, sit ups and squats in between commercial breaks of watching tv. Then, some of the older guys in the apartment complex would see me in the neighborhood gym so they gave me the passcode to the gym so I could go in there late night over the summer. I was going to the gym at like 2-4am over the summer as a young teen. Out of boredom. Probably training very non optimally but it’s the effort that counts haha. Ever since then I have been in and out the gym over the years. But I completely locked in around Covid. I went from 150-210 within like 6-7 months. Little did I know it was a lot of fat gained with only small amounts of muscle. But I was proud of the weight gain. The gym has been a great outlet for me emotionally and mentally, more so than physical aspect. The physical benefits are great but the mental are even better. It’s a stress reliever and an outlet for me to be creative.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Hasn’t always been a smooth road. When it comes to my content my growth was pretty stagnant for quite some time. I had this @heavyw8_chop page since somewhere in 2023. And up until about November of 2025 I only amassed maybe 1-200 followers. Then I decided to actually put my all into it and I’m glad I did. But the consistency, the fear of judgement, the lack of understanding, and being lazy in terms of content creation were huge deterrents. But in November I made the commitment to myself to put my effort into it and never looked back

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As of right now I do private security and content creation. My content creation is centered around lifestyle, fitness, cooking, and more. Essentially my day to day thoughts to an extent. I want to motivate people to become their higher self. Whether it’s young men from similar upbringings as me. Underprivileged youth, middle aged people, whoever. I believe my authenticity, relentlessness, and lack of fear of judgement is what sets me apart. I’m not afraid to be my true self. The ups, downs, all of it. It’s okay to be human and experience things.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My mom has been a big motivation she’s always worked very very hard. And our Nigerian culture has been instilled in me since birth. But I garner inspiration from everyone literally. My peers, children, people on the internet, the homeless, everyone. I feel as if you can learn something from anyone.
