Hi Helen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m thrilled to share the story behind Mega DJ & Karaoke, a New Orleans family business since 1979, that turned into Houston’s top destination for DJs and karaoke enthusiasts. My parents owned Phong Le Company for 28 years in New Orleans bút relocated to Houston during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. That’s when Mega Karaoke DJ Center was born in 2006.
Over the years, we’ve grown from a small shop into a bustling hub, offering an array of top-tier brands like Pioneer, JBL, Sennheiser, QSC, and Shure. We’ve become known for not just our product range but also our commitment to customer service. Our team is made up of fellow music enthusiasts—people who understand your needs and are here to help you perfect your setup, whether you’re a professional DJ or a karaoke star in the making.
What I love most about running Mega DJ & Karaoke is the opportunity to meet and interact with so many talented individuals. Each customer has a unique story, and being able to provide them with the tools they need to succeed is incredibly rewarding.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it has not been a smooth road. With social media, it has been a total 180° on how retail sales are made from 15 years ago vs present day. Also we now need to pivot quickly with SEO algorithm changes. The most difficult has been dealing with the Covid lockdown, inventory shortages and now tariffs.
