Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Hamilton.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Hunter. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
So I am a Coffee Roaster that has a 20-year goal of owning a Coffee House. I set my goal right as I graduated college and got married about 17 years ago! So I have about 3 years to obtain the goal of a brick and mortar coffee house!!! But as specialty coffee has swept over the nation and the world I began exploring and learning and coming up with a plan on what was going to make HunterBeans different! So one thing that I started was roasting my own coffee! I started on a hand crank whirlypop over my stove and then progressed from there.
Roasting for myself and then for friends and family so much that I approached my wife and told her that I thought that I might need to buy a real coffee roaster and she quickly responded saying it’s about time!!! So now I have a 5kilo Coffee Roaster our in my garage and I am out at the Fulshear Farmers Market selling mostly Single Origin Coffee and educating the suburbs of Houston what specialty coffee is and how amazing it tastes!!!
HunterBeans is still a hobby but has also turned into a small profitable business that has an amazing following of loyal customers that have turned into more than just customers they are truly friends and family!!!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Totally smooth no bumps in the road at all… hahaha! I am my own biggest roadblock constantly allowing my self-doubt and procrastination get in my own way!!! I am also constantly weighing out how to grow HunterBeans Coffee without burdening my family with financial risks. We have stayed out of debt as much as possible while growing HBR!
I’m also primarily a stay at home while my wife Johnna Hamilton is managing a community for adults with disabilities (The Brookwood Community) that is a 24 hour a day 7 day a week job. So I try to support her and love on our 2 kiddos as well as possible while growing a small business it is a constant adventure!

HunterBeans Coffee Roasters is a small batch specialty coffee roaster! We sell at The Fulshear Farmers Market most weekends! We sell Whole Bean coffee by the 12oz bag hot pour-overs, cold brew and nitro coffee by the cup and growler!
I am most proud of the friends that I have made because of HunterBeans and the coffee we serve! The true relationships that have been created over a cup of coffee they are truly deep and amazing, I have been blown away at the love and support that I receive each weekend at the Farmers Market they truly keep me going!
What were you like growing up?
I’m still growing up but when I was young I was shy and quiet and then became a pretty responsible kiddo and found my voice! I have always cared about people and made friends wherever I go.
