Meet Ibelise Chaban of Cakes by Ibelise in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ibelise Chaban.

Ibelise, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My family of 3 in that moment moved to Miami from Venezuela in 2006… In 2008 our family grew up and we decided to move to Katy.

Basically, this adventure began on my son’s 2nd birthday (2010)….. I just wanted to make an awesome cake for him … One of those kinds of TV cakes that looks amazing and unique. I saw different videos, got the ingredients and tried to make the best cake that I could for him.

At the party, everybody was asking who made THE CAKE???? That was my very 1st cake, and I really enjoy to make it! I quickly realized that I had a natural ability to decorate and that I did a great job decorating my first Cake <3

At the party one of my friend told me: “my daughter’s birthday is coming up… I am placing my order right now!!!”. From that date until this year, I’m still doing her cakes and for all my customers from that year PLUS new customers each year…. I am really thankful for the opportunity.

On that year 2010… I did not have a job, I was at home taking care of my kids. My husband was the only provider at that moment, so, that was a great opportunity for me to try to work from home. I began posting my cakes pictures made and information thru online websites. Months later, I made a website online to promote my work… I opened a Facebook page CAKES BY IBELISE! On there I posted my cakes pictures and contact information for customers. Some of my clients shared my business with heir friends and family… That was great that they enjoyed my cakes!

Nothing brings me more joy than getting a review or even a message from a customer saying how much they love their Cake <3

I really love my job!

Has it been a smooth road?
I’d like to say that I have had a smooth and blessed road… I’m thankful that I have a job that I LOVE and the best part it is that I can work at home and be with my family!

I have a great team at home; my husband, daughter, and son have been supporting me on every way. When the week and weekend get really busy, they are really helpful at home and with each other. I’m so Thankful!

Of course, at the beginning, I was a little worried and anxious to get orders and succeed the expectations of each customer. Each day I have overcome a new challenge by taking it one project or task at a time.
