Today we’d like to introduce you to Irma Gavidia.
Hi Irma, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started lashing almost 7 years ago. I had got let go of my job and had no option, but to make lashing work out. Luckily, I had took a lash course 2 weeks before letting go and although at that moment it felt like my life was a mess, it was my biggest blessing. Over the past years I’ve been able to grow my business by offering variety of services. That includes: lash extensions services, ,lash lifts, lash courses and lash supplies for lash artists. While continually investing in my business every year to stay up to date with what’s trending in the lash industry. I do that by having a lash mentor. Going to lash conferences and taking lash courses. I honesty had no idea what I was doing when I first started as a new business owner. I started solo from the beginning but though out the years and my investments I’ve been able to learn so much about how to run a successful lash business and I am able to share that with my students. Never in a million years did I think I’d be doing lashes, let alone making it my full-time career. I was in college when I took my very first lash course, and the first few months were definitely tough. But I kept telling myself, “I can do this,” and with that mindset, I ended up getting fully booked within my first month of starting.
I’m genuinely so happy with my decision to become a lash artist—it’s opened up so many amazing opportunities for me. I truly love everything about lashes, which is why I now offer courses and sell lash supplies. It’s all come full circle, and I’m so excited for what’s next.
I’m truly enjoying this journey. There have been both great and challenging years, but with each one, I’ve learned how to run my business more smoothly. I didn’t go to school to become a business owner, so a lot of it has been learning as I go—and I’m still learning every day. But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I see Kakun Beauty growing into something huge here in Houston. Right now, my focus is on building the brand, making the name known, and ensuring it stands out for what it truly represents. We’re all about transformation. We’re here to inspire change and push for better—both in the lash industry for fellow lash artists and for our clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
it most definitely hasn’t been smooth. I initially started lashing in my bedroom in my sisters apartment next to my bed. I did a lot of giveaways and specials to get clients in my bed. A little after 8 months I was able to get my own suite and that’s when I was able to take off with my business , but then COVID happen. Which meant I had to close for 3 months, I was able to work with the new economy , made adjustments and started teaching beginner courses to get my business running again smoothly. There’s always hard years and amazing years, all that matters is to not give up. I know that in the next few years my hard work ethic will show 100 times more.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is going to the beach with my family and catching crabs. We will do this every summer and we were able to build so many new memories together. Also, just being able to play outside with my neighbors and cousins was a lot of fun. There was not one worry in our minds and those were the best times,
