My path into medicine started with a strong desire to have a tangible and positive impact on people’s lives, and I found the ideal avenue for this through plastic and reconstructive surgery.
After earning my medical degree at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School, I embarked on a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery. This phase of my training was pivotal, as it immersed me in the complexities of facial anatomy and reconstruction, providing a solid foundation in surgical skills. I wanted to expand my repertoire and address a broader array of patient needs, which led me to pursue a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Houston Methodist Institute of Reconstructive Surgery. This fellowship was transformative, allowing me to refine my skills and deepen my understanding of both aesthetic and reconstructive surgical techniques.
Throughout my training, I was fortunate to work under the guidance of renowned surgeons in the field, which further ignited my passion for innovation in surgery. My unique and diverse background in craniomaxillofacial, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery enables me to offer a distinctive suite of services. I aim to craft tailored surgical solutions that not only meet but exceed patient expectations, combining function with aesthetics in the most harmonious manner possible.
Driven by the dual commitment to compassion and excellence, I founded Designer Plastic Surgery with the vision of creating a practice that merges cutting-edge techniques with a personalized approach to patient care. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Reflecting on my journey, I would say that it has largely been a smooth road, albeit with the inherent challenges that come with pursuing a demanding and highly specialized field like plastic and reconstructive surgery. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to receive guidance and mentorship from exceptional and skilled surgeons who have greatly influenced my career. Their expertise and passion for the field have not only honed my surgical skills but have also instilled in me a deep respect for the delicate balance between function and aesthetics in surgery.
Along the way, I’ve met numerous inspiring individuals—colleagues, mentors, and patients—each of whom has contributed uniquely to my professional growth. These connections have enriched my journey, making the experience immensely rewarding both personally and professionally.
Of course, like any medical profession, there have been times when I’ve faced complex cases or needed to stay abreast of the latest advancements in surgical techniques. These moments, however, became opportunities for growth and learning rather than obstacles, driving me to continually improve and innovate in my practice. The relationships and experiences I’ve gained throughout this journey have been invaluable and continue to inspire me daily in my work at Designer Plastic Surgery.
