Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamel Thomas.
Jamel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began this Journey back in June of 2016. I came into the insurance industry after working for Wal-Mart for five years, with two of the five years being an operations Assistant Manager.
The days were long and hard as well as time-consuming. I always knew deep down within myself that I could do so much better because my University PVAMU prepared to do so. So after a bit of turmoil with store turnover I was let go from Wal-Mart in 2015 after a “changing of direction”. At that point, I was on my way to reclaiming my time and becoming the man I was meant to be. Afterwords of encouragement from my girlfriend at the time who is now my Wife that believes so much in me, I took the leap of becoming a business owner. After much research I ultimately ended up joining Farmers as an Agency Owner and haven’t looked back since. Since June of 2016, I truly feel I have been living the best years of my life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a smooth transition so far there are far more good days than bad. My mindset is “My struggle is my strength” it is the constant reminder that fuels me from going back to my traditional 9-5. Also having a background as a competitive football player fuels me everyday to go harder to compete against the best and surpass them. I feel my competitive personality gives me the edge needed to be the best.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jamel Insurance Agency – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company specializes in Insurance that deals with (Auto Home Life & Business). I don’t do health insurance at this time, and I’m looking forward to getting into stocks and retirement with my company in the near future, hopefully in 2020.
I’m known for being very friendly, knowledgeable, and personable to work with. I enjoy the fact that my customers love me so much that they sometimes call me to just check on me or to discuss the latest happenings in sports or business. I see myself often at times becoming a Life Coach as well as an insurance agent.
I most proud of my company having a diverse line of products fit to serve just about every customer that comes my way.
What sets me apart is my motto “You’re in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing, with the right agent” leaving customers to say “I know that’s right”.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans in the future are to continue to grow and become one of the largest agencies in the country so that I can assist more people and employee more to change the world and expand my vision.
I’m planning on creating more partnerships in my community and looking for more innovative ways to support the community that support me.
As for big changes, time will tell but I can’t reveal all of that at this time 🙂
