Today we’d like to introduce you to James Will.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
After Graduating in 2015 I started sewing / designing clothes since then I’ve had three successful fashion shows, and many photo shoots. Doing fashion was very fun, but I knew there was more to me than just designing so I got into music two years later, and since then I’ve had three projects, two EP’s and one album which is currently on all major music platforms
Please tell us about your art.
My designs can be described as urban couture. I make a lot of vintage-inspired pieces as far as the colors, patterns and prints I love many eras but find myself catering to the 80’s – 90’s fashion simply because the colors were so vibrant and colorful which is something I’m very passionate about when designing.
My music can be described as hip hop and r&b. When I make music, I don’t send a negative message I sing and rap about love and everyday life situations that many people can relate to.
I want the world to focus on the artistry behind my work; Everything is thought out very carefully, and I love for my work to tell a story. It gives the viewers a different feel and helps open their mind and creativity.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Success to me is personal. When I set a goal, and I accomplish it, I consider that success; whether it’s planning a fashion show or recording a new album once the goal is accomplished, I believe that I have succeeded.
Today’s society focus is directed toward social likes and followers I don’t focus much on that while having a following can be a very good support system in a way , I don’t think it’s healthy to get caught up in the battle of who’s more popular and no one should feel like they aren’t successful because of it. Every artist should work at their own speed.
