Meet James Winkler of Waterpoint Marina in Lake Conroe

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Winkler.

James, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We started off with a large piece of land on Lake Conroe that was originally going to be only for a large condominium development. After teaming up with a real estate development group out of Houston, we decided to turn what we had into a multi-use development. We have a large shopping center on the front end that includes lakeside restaurants, CVS, Starbucks, Marble Slab, Smoothie King, nail and hair salons, a gym, boutiques, office suites, and many others. On the backside of the development, we have our marina, a beautiful Lakeside Event Venue, and we recently started construction on a 56-unit luxury mid-rise condominium project called The Shoreline at Waterpoint. At Waterpoint Marina, you can keep your boat in our slips, take out our 80′ yacht for a charter of any kind including birthday parties and corporate events, and even try out the new sports craze of Flyboarding! We are a family owned and operated business who live, work, and play out on Lake Conroe and love everything about this 26-mile-long, 6-mile-wide playground. Waterpoint has really become one of the “Hotspots” on the lake because of everything we offer here. And only being 20 min away from The Woodlands and 45 min away from Houston that makes it easy to escape from the busy city life to come relax out at the lake.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
With any large dream, there will be some speed bumps along the way. We have learned and grown from everything we have been through and are happy where we are at.

Please tell us about Waterpoint Marina.
I guess you could say we are in the “Making life fun” business. We have our marina, a beautiful Lakeside Event Venue, and we recently started construction on a 56-unit luxury mid-rise condominium project called The Shoreline at Waterpoint. Our Lake Side Venue offers beautiful views of Lake Conroe from its’ large terrace and can hold up to 300 people for wedding, or any other large gathering. Our Shoreline Condominium project is our newest addition and exciting thing happening at Waterpoint. All 56 units are Waterfront with awesome lake views and offer luxurious finishing and amenities, this is like a full-time vacation home or even your “1 hour away” vacation. We are a family owned and operated business who live, work, and play out on Lake Conroe and love everything about this 26-mile-long, 6-mile-wide playground. That being said, we customize in customer service with people who care about you enjoying what we get to experience every day. I’d say I am most proud of how far we have come and the fact that I get to work with my family. Waterpoint has really become one of the “Hotspots” on the lake because of everything we offer here. And only being 20 min away from The Woodlands and 45 min away from Houston makes it easy to escape from the busy city life to come relax out at the lake.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Import some fresh water dolphins into the lake? 🙂
