Meet Janet Amador of Carlton Woods ~ Behind the Gates in The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Amador.

Janet, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up hosting carnivals and haunted houses with my siblings myself and my family have all been a close-knit family of entrepreneurs. After many years of being in sales, I was looking for a business that was unique and I had a larger than life passion for with flexibility and unlimited earning potential.

I had been in advertising and dealt with all types of mediums. My philosophy on print was, for the most part, it was generic content, which not much shelf life and expensive so unless your company had a huge budget and was primarily interested in branding renewals were tough.

Behind the Gates is a user-generated publication for and from the residents of Carlton Woods in The Woodlands a gated community with homes up to $29,000,000. It is a franchise I own and the concept is to go into the most affluent communities across the country and develop a high-end family newsletter publication. The residents provide the majority of the pictures and articles which are pictures of themselves and their families and stories about things they are involved in.

The idea is to bring the community closer together because it is not like the old days where when you walk your dog and your children play you meet your neighbors and get to know more about them. The advertising pays for it and an ideal client works mainly of-of WOM and is the best of the best at what they do.

I broke a record going to print the fastest at the time of inception almost five years ago. My publication has also been rated in the top 1% for having top quality content as well as being in the top portion of the most successful publications. My last cover featured a resident known as having the worlds largest closet 3000 sq’ Theresa Roemer with a variety of movie stars including Joan Rivers, Michael Jordan and Cedric the Entertainer, Damon John from the Shark Tank, Roger Clemens and Porsha Williams RHOA.

All advertising works but it doesn’t work the same for the same residents. Behind the Gates is a way to cost-effectively laser focus on your ideal client. It is a conservative- faith-based publication. It is so much more than a publication with the readership we have we will change legacies and honor God in the interim.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My career prior to this had its ups and down. I would be a top performer for different corporations only to have either to have my commission or territory changed where my income was limited. It is nice to have my own business and part of a franchise where there are no limits.

Carlton Woods ~ Behind the Gates – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
In addition to being the only user-generated publication where the residents who are the readers are also the writers we also have events where the clients can meet face to face with the residents who see their ads. Most of our clients tell us if they have a chance to mix and mingle with the residents they have a better chance of doing business with them.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Sucess to me is genuinely loving what you do as a career, having unlimited opportunity, being able to have time to focus on your family, travel and honor God along the way.
