Meet Jasmine Pope of Blessings In DisguIZe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Pope.

Jasmine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The journey of Blessings In DisguiZe really begins after I called off my engagement in 2014. I was in a place where I was really questioning everything that had happened in my life up until that point. “Why did all this happen to me?” And I heard God speak to me, “Everything you went through was a blessing in disguise.” I began praying in order to really understand what it all meant and from there the ideas started flowing.

My first major social media project was #26for26 where I shared 26 life lessons leading up to my 26th birthday. From there I continued to share posts via social media and then decided I wanted to reach a wider audience and developed my blog, www.blessingsindisguize.com on March 23, 2017. Although I loved reaching people through the various forms of media, I desired to reach people on a more intimate level where I could combine the knowledge I had obtain from my work and educational experience together with all of the life lessons I had learned. Within six months, I was seeing my first clients in my private practice business, Blessings In DisguiZe Counseling & Coaching.

Since opening Blessings In DisguiZe Counseling and Coaching, I have been able to share my love and knowledge of mental health with various business and organizations through my speaking and training services. I hosted my very first conference, the Pretty. Powerful. Purposeful Conference on March 23, 2019 and will be hosting my 2nd conference on March 20-21, 2020. I was also a speaker at the Professional Pretty Conference hosted by Morgan Owens.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is never smooth and easy. It is always filled with many twists and turns, bumps along the way, and unexpected detours. However, I wouldn’t change any of it because it has helped to develop me into the woman I am today. Along this road, I have struggled with identity and self-esteem issues. I have battled depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. I lost friends, felt overlooked, felt unqualified, and had to overcome fear and identity issues, but here I am today showing myself and the world that you can overcome everything that comes your way.

Please tell us about Blessings In DisguIZe.
I am a licensed independent social worker, a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor, and a certified life coach in Toledo, Ohio. Through my business, I provide individual therapy/counseling to adolescents and women ages 18-45; couples counseling; EAP services; life coaching services; and speaking & training services. It is my mission to provide real, reliable, and relatable services to assist my clients with overcoming mental, emotional, and spiritual barriers that have stopped them from achieving their purpose in life.

The thing that I am most proud of with my business is taking the leap of faith to do all of the things that I have done with Blessings In DisguiZe. I have talked myself out of so many things and opportunities, but with my business I have not settled for the bare minimum. I am always working to achieve more in order to leave a legacy for my daughters.

I think the thing that sets me apart from others is the amount of passion that I have. I am passionate about learning and always looking for ways to assist my clients. I am passionate about seeing them grow and develop in order to overcome the obstacles that they are facing. It’s my passion that keeps me going each and every day.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is going to see James Brown live in concert. My grandfather introduced me to his music and that was something that gave us a special connection. We were in the second row and even though I was two, I can still remember the concert to this day.
