Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Arcemont.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jason. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
If there was anything unusual about the Arcemonts, it was that our family was made up of entrepreneurs, instilling in me a passion for business at a very young age. My fondest memories are of my father sharing his business philosophy and sales tactics with me.
Something about building a dream and creating something from nothing excited me early on. I knew as a young man that I wanted–and maybe was even destined–to build and run a business of his own. The problem was that he found interest in so many different industries and business models that he didn’t have a clue where to start.
Later, I landed a great job as a sales rep at a marketing firm and loved everything about it, from raising capital to developing campaigns to launching a new product or service into the market place. I enjoyed working with lots of unique companies with different business models on a daily basis. The only thing missing was my burning desire to run my own company.
After 13 years in marketing and advertising, I secured business independence by starting BrightBox! I designed BrightBox as a full service brand marketing firm specializing in brand image development, strategic marketing planning and proactive brand maintenance. Started in 2008 with only $1,000, BrightBox has since grown from a two-man operation to an Inc. 500 recipient with 50+ employee staff producing multi-million dollar revenue.
With a series of other companies started, partnerships with iHeart Media and currently BBVA Compass, I’ve enjoyed being an entrepreneur and an ambassador to small business owners everywhere. Matching business acumen with undeniable passion, I’m excited to continue transforming businesses through BrightBox, my own personal brand and through every interaction I’m blessed to have.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to success is rarely smooth. As an entrepreneur, I fight complacency daily.
We are constantly tempted to back down in the face of adversity–or even when the slightest road block comes our way. It’s easier to surrender your hard work when you’re not truly passionate about something. When you don’t really want something, you won’t invest your time, money and other resources into attaining it. Go one step further. If you’re not willing to sacrifice your comfortability for the sake of your dreams, you’ll be left with a lot of great ideas and nothing to show for them.
I try to put myself in the line of fire every day. Striving to level up to adversity, maintain focus and grind through the daily tasks, big and small, I find my own success.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
In one my books, Your Spot on the Mountain, I define success as I see it.
I explain that while I’m a serial entrepreneur, a marketing guru and an accomplished endurance athlete, I’m also a husband, father of four, philanthropist and a leader to a lot of people. There’s a unique mix of passions, obligations and gifts that make up who I am personally. Success is unique for each and every one of us, and for me, it wasn’t quick to define as I started my professional career.
All of my accomplishments and setbacks taught me life lessons. Many of them were at one point important life goals I wanted to accomplish. And almost every single one of them brought me some level of fulfillment. But in spite of how valuable I found certain experiences to be, I didn’t feel like a true success immediately after finishing them because I never defined what success looked like to me. It took me a long time to determine that success is really personalized to the individual as opposed to generalized to the entire world.
My success is finding the spot on the mountain where I belong and thrive the most.
For example, at the top of the mountain, there are less people so it’s lonely. And there’s not much room to play, relax and enjoy. The air is thin and the height can be scary if you look down too fast. That’s why is crucial that every person defines success for themselves and commits to their passions and goals relentlessly.
