Meet Jason Broussard and Said Jalajal of The WhiteNoiize Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Broussard and Said Jalajal.

As up-and-coming music producers in the Houston area, Jason Broussard (KNOTZ) and Said Jalajal (SJPJ) decided to put their creative brains together and start their own collective of DJ/producers. The WhiteNoiize Collective was first founded in February of 2017 with just three members. Fast forwarding to a year later, the collective now has 7 members, over 60+ original tracks and over 9 hours of mixes by producers from all over.

The goal of the collective is to showcase new talent and give these producers an outlet to showcase their music. KNOTZ and SJPJ created a weekly release schedule and skyrocketed to notoriety among the Houston EDM scene. Their current members are KNOTZ, SJPJ, DAT TU, SAYLUS, M.E.SWANK. RNZO, GIO.

Has it been a smooth road?
There are always obstacles when creating a new project, especially one that focuses on working with multiple individuals in a creative outlet. Not all of our members remained in the collective. Sometimes the goals of individuals don’t match the rest of the group. In the end, we released a new original track once a week every week for our first year. It looks fantastic on paper- planning a specific day for each promotional post etc.

However, the amount of work begins to become a burden, especially on a new brand.

Fortunately, the collective was able to release a track every week but one, due to Hurricane Harvey, throughout the year of 2017. Finding new artists and fresh faces could be tricky, but fortunately for us, Houston’s underground gives birth to many just trying to find their light.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Changing things up for our second year, The WhiteNoiize collective has switched from weekly releases to three thematic albums a year. The 2018 themed albums are Spark, Jungle, and DarkNoiize- with the Spark album just released in April. You can hear the full Spark album at https://soundcloud.com/whitenoiize/sets/wnc-spark.

While we focus on creating music and showcasing new talent, the collective plans to grow towards doing more shows as a group. In our first year, The WhiteNoiize collective took over various venues and bars such as Stereo Live and Pub Level. Having the chance to put on shows as a cohesive group while also releasing original music and showcasing new talent definitely sets us apart from the rest.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston has been a fantastic place for a group such as ours due to its surplus of talent and need for creative outlets. Our goal is to push artists further than they’ve gone before and helped get their music heard from a larger audience.

The biggest way Houston can support these artists is to come out to shows and repost their music. People often feel that they’re supporting others when sometimes just a quick repost someone’s song can help them reach a greater audience. Going out to shows to have a good time are obviously the goal, but taking the time to reflect on the artists their actually enjoying can mean the world for some of these artists.
