Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayden Washer.
Jayden Allyn Washer is an 11 years old fashion designer. Jayden describes his aesthetic as sophisticated glam for classically beautiful and empowered women of all varieties. His interest in fashion started at the age of seven years old under the tutorage of Sabrina Occeus. He began sewing pillows and quickly moved on to more advanced designs, like skirts and shirts. Jayden comes from a background with his family involved in film and production. Some of his earliest memories are of helping his father, Adam Washer, backstage and pushing around road cases.
Jayden has been invited to showcase his collection at New York Fashion Week this September 13th at the Fashion Industry’s Finest Independent designer’s fashion show. It will be held in Midtown Manhattan at the Watson Hotel.
Jayden “I want the women that wear my clothing to feel beautiful if you’re feeling self-conscious I hope my clothes helps you feel confident.”
Has it been a smooth road?
Luckily Jayden has a full team of supportive people behind him. His parents own the film production company, Adrina Media based in Houston, Texas. The response to such an accomplishment of someone so young has been amazingly positive.
Sabrina: “Our family business is a unique one, it may look like fun and games but it’s a lot of work. Jayden’s father and I have a combined over 20 years experience in the industry but we couldn’t be more proud of Jayden for sticking to his passion. When he first began sewing there were a few comments here and there about being a boy that has an interest in fashion but it’s all been fantastic after the Houston community embraced him in his endeavors. There’s nothing more satisfying than passing down a skill or trade and wacthing it turn into something so positive and so beautiful.”
Adam: “We noticed our son had an interest in fashion at a young age. Aside from the crew, family members have been cheering him on and supporting in making his dreams a reality. His Nana has a background as a talented jewelry designer and when she heard the news of Jayden going to fashion week, she jumped with no hesitation to sending materials. We were bombarded with amazon packages of fabrics after she heard Jayden had only three more garments to complete. It’s more than anyone could ask for. We couldn’t express in words how much our family’s support means to us and to Jayden.”

Historically Jayden Allyn Washer will be the youngest male fashion designer to ever showcase his collection at New York Fashion Week. There is a documentary being produced about his process and his journey to fashion week. You will be able to watch this 11 years old going through this exciting experience.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Jayden: “The artistic environment of Houston is what I love about this city. The only thing I least like is that it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, there’s a lot of really cool people and places here but we’re not like New York or Los Angeles.”
