Meet Jayla Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayla Lee.

Hi Jayla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I started my business I was a struggling college student and I was having 15 hour days going to school in the morning and working at the airport at night, I never had time to do my homework or any extracurricular activities that I wanted to do but I still had to take care of myself so I had to make a change, so I took up nails. I decided to take a nail course to learn everything I needed to know. When I first started doing nails I started on the floor sitting Indian style at my parent’s house upstairs in my room. My dad told me the smell was too strong and I could only do nails outside so I had fold up chairs and a table in the garage and that was my nail station. I practiced for 6 months on my family, friends and manikins before I started accepting any clients. When covid hit and all the nail shops closed my business took off tremendously, I still service some of those clients right now, I was still out of my dad’s garage until my mom offered me a place at her spa, I worked there for about 3 months before I decided to get my own suite, When I got my own suite I was overly joyed because I felt accomplished, I had something that was mine for me to grow my business. For the first few months it was white walls until I was able to paint and decorate how I wanted it to be. Growing my clientele is one of the constant struggles I have with my business but I just keep pushing for the prize and trusting God and that’s how I am where I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not always been a smooth road. Sometimes I did not have money to buy supplies, I did not have a comfortable environment for my clients to come to, and just getting people in the door is sometimes the hardest part. I am one person that runs Exquisite Tips so I have to do everything and it does get overwhelming sometimes but I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a nail technician, I specialize in any type of nail designs and I am known for creating the best atmosphere for my clients. What sets me apart from everyone else is that I don’t do this for money or Recognition, I do this because I have grown to love what I do and I love making women feel beautiful. I am everything in one to my clients. I don’t see them at dollar signs, they are human and I care about them just like they are one of my family or friends
