Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Lind, MD.
Jeffrey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
-From a mostly blue collar home.
-While I have several successful entrepreneurs in my family, I was the first to obtain a college education. I had several tough, manual labor jobs during my high school summers that really showed me the importance of getting an education (although I still enjoy working, doing manual labor, and sweating).
-attended college at The University of South Carolina, started out as a business major. changed majors to Biology going into my second year of college after I developed an interest in medicine after being exposed to it by the father (a cardiologist) of a close friend of mine at the time
-Attended University of South Carolina School of Medicine, during my clinical rotations developed a love of surgery (instant gratification after a surgical procedure, get to work with hands, has a component of blue collar work to it as it is manual labor, etc).
-Did a five year General Surgery residency at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas….during this time, I rotated through plastic surgery and this is when I decided that this is the field that I wanted to practice in. Met my wife, who is from Texas, during this time
-Then completed a Plastic Surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Florida which is located in South Florida (Weston, Florida). I learned plastic surgery in one of the hottest areas in the world for plastic surgery, learning and operating with many world-renowned plastic surgeons from Miami to Boca Raton Florida
-Being that I knew how much I loved Texas when I was here during my General Surgery training and being that my wife’s family was there, we decided to move there (The Woodlands, TX) to open my practice. This also enabled me to fulfill my desire to be a business owner (as I started out my college career as a business major.)
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest obstacle with opening my business was that I was planning/opening a business 1200 miles away from the location where my business would be located. this required frequent flights to Houston/The Woodlands in order to find a location, meet with architects, contractors, etc.
The next biggest obstacle with my business was finding the “right” employees that I felt would represent my practice well and that would provide the high level of service to my patients that our practice has become known for …this required a lot of interviews before I finally found the right people.
The Lind Institute of Plastic Surgery – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are well known in the area for our mommy makeover procedures and have become a plastic surgery destination location for women across the country looking to feel better about themselves. We also specialize in non-surgical procedures as well as other surgical cosmetic procedures. Cosmetic surgeries include services such as breast implants, breasts lifts, tummy tucks, liposuction, eyelid surgeries, face lifts, body lifts, etc. We also offer a host of non-surgical treatments in my office that include BBL (broad band light) photofacials, laser skin resurfacing, hair removal, and injectables such as Botox and soft tissue filler. We also offer several lines of skin care products.
One things that sets us apart from MOST other practices is that we offer Vectra XT 3-D imaging during our consults. This allows us to show patients what they might look like after their breast implants are placed, after their facelift, etc. It is really a great tool for patients trying to make decisions on their cosmetic treatments.
The thing that I’m most proud and that also sets us apart from others as a company is the high level of personalized customer service that we offer. This starts with the patient’s initial contact to our practice and extends through their journey with The Lind Institute of Plastic Surgery. Patients in our practice will often comment on the high level of service that they get in my practice versus other offices that they have been in.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as having a profession/job that you truly enjoy going to every day.
However, to be successful one must also have a great personal home life as a husband and a father. When these two areas are thriving, this defines true success to me.
