Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Reich-Hale.
Jelvin’s Candy Shoppe is a dream project created by Jeffrey and Kelvin. Jeffrey worked in a candy store in High School and always had a dream of having his own candy store and charity business. The two always wanted to have a business together that brings a positive mission to the world. So they took those two dreams and combined them into one vision to provide people with a great way to give back while enjoying their beloved sweet treat for themselves as well as great gifts to give to family, friends and clients. At Jelvin’s, we believe if people are going to buy candy, we should combine that desire with everyone’s desire to give back and help those in need.
Jelvin’s started just about one year ago and has gone through several changes from product changes, packaging changes and has grown its website functionality. It has been a fun experience in learning what works and what doesn’t and then growing sales in order to implement changes as we can.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s a start-up so there have been some bumps, but mostly due to COVID-19 ruining the momentum we had in networking. But now, with all the great zoom networking opportunities that have been growing, we are gaining more exposure. Otherwise, it has been just the normal start-up process with finding what works and what doesn’t work from product to packaging.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are known for our charity mission of giving 60% of our profits to our two main charities, which are Barrio Dogs and the AIDS Foundation of Houston. Our customers love all our products, but we get the most rave reviews about our Gummy Bears. We will only provide top quality brand candies. We do not do generic brands. We are most proud of our charity mission and the partnerships we are forming with different companies in the community.
What sets us apart from the other options you have for gifts for friends, family, client and employee’s is we promote the idea of #purchasewithpurpose. While other companies that people use for sales calls and gifts are 100% for profit, we are all about our mission of giving back. We are also 25-year hospitality professionals so we bring the idea of high-level hospitality customer service to the retail industry.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Spending time with my Grandmother going shopping for matchbox cars and visiting Alexandar’s Department Store. I am an NYC native and we lived in Queens. I loved spending time with my grandma because she was the best cook and spoiled me with matchbox cars and Cadbury chocolate bars.
