Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Haldiman and Orlando Moore.
Nuvo Athletic was started as the brainchild of Jennifer and Orlando – both longtime professionals in the spirit industry and apparel market.
Please share your story with us.
Our product range covers multi-sports with an emphasis on the spirit industry. Our goal is to provide high quality, custom apparel at great prices with exceptional customer service and delivery. One of the ways we accomplish this is by providing personal touches to each order such as surprise gifts or “progress photos” of their order in production.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The process has not been smooth, but anything worth having never comes easy. Some of the most difficult struggles have been setting up the sublimation printers and settling on a color palette as well as fabric selection for garments within each different facet of the company. Figuring out the what temperatures and pressures work with different fabrics and how they react and hold color has proven difficult and costly. In the beginning, we made a large purchase on a type of fabric which we thought would be appropriate for our business only to find out that I did not hold up to the wear and tear of athletic type activities.
Every new product we introduce into the company comes with its own special learning curve whether it is with the fit of the garment or how the design is transferred. It definitely keeps you on your toes but our knowledge about this industry is ever growing.
Please tell us about Nuvo Athletic.
We originally started the company with the vision of providing cheerleading active wear – custom sport bras, shorts etc. But our vision quickly blossomed into a much larger multi-facet company once we realized that our creativity could extend far beyond the world of cheer.
We now offer a wide range of items from cheerleading uniforms and practice wear to corporate polos. We have extended our team sports side of the business to include basketball, soccer, softball/baseball, volleyball and swim just to name a few. We offer accessories like custom beach towels, picture frames and pillow cases.
What sets Nuvo apart from other companies is that we are able to take any group whether it is employees for a business office or fans for a swim team and we can create a “look” or an “image” that is designed specifically for them. We are able to help define who they are by allowing their creativity to come to life. The best part is that no two Nuvo products will be the same. You will never show up to a game or corporate event with the same polo as the next guy.
