Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Penchas
Hi Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so the spirit of business has always been a part of my life. I started my entrepreneurial journey at the age of 18 by owning and operating a chain of salons. For over two decades, I thrived in the beauty industry, and later in cosmetic dentistry, where I found considerable success. My experience as a private investor in real estate eventually inspired me to pursue a full-time career in the field. This passion for real estate also led me to venture into the commercial side of the industry with the opening the first franchise, Flamingos Vintage Pound in Houston.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my biggest challenges has been balancing the demands of my real estate business and investments with the responsibilities of managing my new retail store. While it’s exciting to be involved in so many ventures, it can sometimes feel like I need an extra set of hands. However, I’m deeply passionate about both, and this passion drives me to push forward, even when the workload is heavy. I’m incredibly grateful for the challenges and opportunities that come my way. I understand that success doesn’t happen overnight, and I’ve learned to appreciate the journey, knowing that each step forward is a valuable part of the process.

Fashion has always been a significant part of my life and I’m thrilled to bring that enthusiasm to life with Flamingos Vintage Pound Houston, a brand originating from Europe. As part of this exciting new franchise, which opened its doors in June 2024, we are proud to be the largest retail vintage store in Houston, offering a unique shopping experience where customers can purchase clothing by the pound. Our store features an exceptionally curated selection of high-quality vintage clothing, providing a rare combination of style and affordability that’s hard to find elsewhere in Houston.
At Flamingos Vintage Pound, we’re more than just a store—we’re a team driven by a shared passion for timeless fashion, upcycling, reducing landfill waste, and giving back to our community. These values are at the core of everything we do, and I genuinely enjoy meeting all sorts of people every day and learning about their stories as we share our love for sustainable fashion.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I also work in real estate and am an agent with Compass! Real estate is my true passion. As a dedicated real estate investor, advisor, and full-time residential realtor with Compass Real Estate, I’m committed to sharing my knowledge and helping my clients make informed decisions. Whether it’s guiding first-time homebuyers, flipping properties, purchasing multi-unit investments, or advising on long-term investment strategies, I find inspiration in the diverse facets of real estate. My approach is rooted in building strong, lasting relationships with my clients, and I take pride in being compassionate and knowledgeable. There are countless ways to invest in real estate, and nothing makes me happier than helping others turn their dreams into reality.
When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me on the court playing tennis, pickleball, or padel. I’m also honored to serve on two nonprofit organizations. The first is the Zonta Club International, a global organization dedicated to women empowering women through service and advocacy. The second is the Greater Houston Pickleball Association, where we aim to connect the community through the sport of pickleball.
Education and community involvement are also important to me. I continually pursue learning through various classes and courses, believing that sharing knowledge and fostering kindness can make a significant impact.
