Today we’d like to introduce you to Jermaine (Dj425) Williams.
Jermaine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started DJ in a little over ten years ago. My love for music allowed me to free myself and opened up like no other. I never wanted to be just a DJ that went to the club to club. I wanted to focus more on private events (weddings, birthday parties, anniversary parties, etc.). Once I grew a follow me and my wife (Chan) started giving back to the community by giving away free events, community block parties, helping single parents for the holidays and etc. My dream was to always use my platform for good!
Has it been a smooth road?
In life, everything you work hard on you going to face obstacles. My biggest obstacle I faced was more self-inflicted then everything. Growing up, my parents taught my siblings and me to get a job and finished college, so going the Dj route, I felt like a disappointing them.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the 425Ent story.
What makes me different from other DJ’s is the way I build a relationship with my clients. To the day they book me today of their event. I make sure that each of my clients is a priority. I walked through each and every song with them to make sure their event is as special as they envisioned it. Focusing on private events gives me a chance to build a bond with people in a walk of life!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In five to ten years, I see my industry taking a shift back to how it used to be when DJ’s was the front of hip hop. Like Jam Master J was in Run Dmc or DJ Jazzy Jeff was for Will Smith!
