Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Rodriguez.
Hi Jesse, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hey, my names Jesse Rodriguez and I’m an aspiring videographer/photographer, I started off filming maybe a few years back because I wanted to be able to start making skate video edits for me and some of my friends cause we had always needed a filmer and so I had bought my first vx2100 shouts out to geometric skate shop for helping me out with that I’m very appreciative for everything. The more I had filmed and edited as the days passed on the more I had began to enjoy it, I had never seen myself as becoming a filmer before but I’m glad I made the choice to go for it because then I was able to start filming/meeting more and more people to the point where I just wanted to film and edit all sorts of things in addition to all the skate videos or clips I had shot and wanted to be more and more well-rounded filming wise so I’ve filmed random edits with friends just trying to have fun and eventually was able to get a better camera with the help of Jorge villagomez from geometric skate shop who always try to help the homies out much love to them and now I’m just trying to get better and better at filming/editing learning new things and each time I go out with friends just trying to have a good time and be happy with the people I surround myself with.
I feel like I’m a big overthinker and could get sad pretty easily If I don’t constantly stay busy and it doesn’t bother me to talk about it so I feel like I constantly have to be doing the stuff I enjoy to feel good and have a clear mind so that’s what I try to do. My goal is to be able to do something bigger and more creative with filming as more time passes by, I recently shot my first wedding so I’m pretty hyped on that cause it slowly shows me being able to get where I wanna be with filming, which is chill like anything is possible if we try hard enough to get it done even if it’s slowly but surely.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I never really grew up having much things and struggled to make ends meet with my family and for the most part was moved around a lot so I ended up going to a lot of different schools and never really made any real close friends till closer towards middle school and I even remember like in early elementary like in the Houston independent school district (HISD) getting stabbed in the ear with a sharp object almost going deaf in a ear cause they blew my ear drum out and having to go to a different school after that shortly it was pretty wild but luckily my hearing came back later on and just overall I’ve had a lot of personal family problems even later on in life alongside everyday normal problems and this ultimately made me get kinda depressed about life but I’m trying to get passed that by just doing the things I love doing with people who are all about positivity and the possibilities in this life trying to slowly make dreams come true even if it’s hard sometimes it’s what I feel is the best thing to try and do cause life is short and random don’t take anyone or anything for granted but yeah I mean everything I’ve gone through has made me learn a lot and of things that were useful so it’s all good I guess lol.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love and enjoy filming/editing videos regardless of what it may be about cause I always found it interesting to be able to work with different kinds of content cause I feel like it makes you more well rounded and forces you to be more creative and step out of the things you are normally used to and comfortable working with and I feel like everyone has their own kind of style so I personally don’t know how I differ from others I just try to improve on what I do and just continue to do it cause I love it and just try to do me.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
