Meet Jesse Sabillon of JJ and Son Remodeling Service in North Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Sabillon .

JJ and Son Remodeling all started about 18 years ago as a Father and Son team. As Jesse Sr. had a very skilled trade as a Carpenter teaching Jesse Jr. everything he knows, along the way, learning all different aspects in the skilled trade and remodeling business such as finished carpentry, painting, kitchens, bathrooms, drywall, electrical, and much more. Through the years, he was working for two different companies. One being bigger than the other. The bigger company being the last company, “The Jesse’s,” were employed. The company’s owner passes away from illness and new ownership and management arrive. We were asked to continue to work for the company, but no longer salary base rather be sub-contractors and had to make a choice of becoming self-employed, establishing JJ and Son Remodeling Service in 2002, keeping the father and son duo together. Learning the remodeling business and perfecting our skills strictly earning our business from word of mouth and still continues on till this very day.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth ride. Many obstacles were faced by being a small family owned and operated business trying to get established, but the most challenging one was on April 12th, 2016. Tragedy struck not only for the business but also in our personal lives. Jesse Sr. and beloved wife, my mother Marissa Sabillon, were struck by a truck involved in an illegal speed racing incident, killing them both instantly on that day. That day will forever change our lives. I felt like giving up at that time. I didn’t even think of the business. I was to devastate by losing both of my parents in such a senseless, heartbreaking way. Many times I didn’t think the business will survive not without my dad, we were a team, a father and son duo, everyone knew us as “The Jesse’s” to hire. My father was not only known for his carpentry skills but also was known in the community as a Pastor of a local church and my mother being a caregiver for special needs. They were well respected in the community and having that tragedy happen. I didn’t know what to do at the time. After months passed, my family, my wife, and I started to build a team together and still continue JJ and Son for the legacy/remembrance of Jesse Sr. We vowed to make them both proud and not give up what we started and worked so hard for. Has it been easy? By all means, no. Is it impossible? No. Nothing is impossible. With prayer, support, and strength, we continued and still will continue to provide the best care in the remodeling industry.

Our dedication and history set us apart from others. We look to satisfy our customers and form long term relationships in all of their remodeling needs.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see my business in the next 5-10 years of potential growth. Expanding our services within the city and provide fellow citizens quality and trustworthy service. I hope to make a bit of a difference in the remodeling industry within the city of Houston and surrounding areas. Teaching my own son and my own daughters the remodeling trade just as my father did not only in quality but honesty as well.
