Meet Jessica Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Brown.

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After being in a car accident at the age of five that left visible scars on my face, I struggled with insecurity and was painfully shy. Growing up as an Afro-Latina, I did not know how to embrace my identity and self-worth. I struggled with low self-esteem throughout both middle and high school. Teachers, Coaches and mentors saw greater in me than I was able to see in myself. Over time, I slowly came out of my shell and started mentoring peers and young girls. That is when I really started to see who I was and understand my value by serving others. The spirit of service led me to join the Army right after High School.

I am passionate about Speaking to and Coaching women and girls to share the importance of standing firm in your authenticity and owning who you are, despite how social media or society may try define you. As a result of my past struggles, I am on a mission to empower, equip and help others elevate their mindset to truly embrace who they are and know they are valuable just as they are.

Today, I know and own who I am and embrace myself fully, not from a place of perfection but from a place of authenticity.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all but I had to decide that in order to become who I wanted to be, I had to take responsibility for my healing and growth. My desire to serve led me to adopt my daughter as a single parent, who was diagnosed with ADHD which led to my own diagnosis. This poses a unique challenge when trying to balance motherhood, work and entrepreneurship but knowing that this is too is part of my purpose is what fuels me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of being known for empowering others as a Speaker, Mentor and Coach. What sets me apart from others is my ability to truly connect with people and see them just as they are. I am blessed to be able to use my purpose in my day job and as an entrepreneur. I am an HR Professional by day and work in the M&A space for a Consulting firm.

How do you define success?
My definition of success is embracing your God-given talent and purpose in order to make an impact in the lives of others.
