

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Jimenez.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
While working for a well known Health System in Houston Texas in 2013 I finally got an opportunity of a lifetime. The department in which I was working was going to be outsourced to another country and all of us in the department was basically going to be laid off in a month. I was called into the COO’s office and offered an opportunity that would change my life for the better. I believe God works in mysterious ways! I was offered a position in the Sales department and met with the gentleman that was going to change my life, my boss, Mr. Sabin Lopez. Not only was he an amazing boss, mentor, and friend, but I have to give him the credit for the person I am today. He taught me the ins and outs of the Medicare world and sales. He taught me how to be a top sales agent which I ended up being in 2016. In early 2017 I was offered a position as Territory Manager-Houston with Optum a fortune 500 company that owns Golden Outlook. I recruit and develop insurance agencies and agents so that they can provide top-notch service to our Medicare beneficiaries. Golden Outlook is an insurance company that has been around for over 28 years.
We represent all major carriers such as United Health Group, Aetna, Humana, Cigna, Amerigroup, and Wellcare. We have licensed insurance agents that have been offering advice on Medicare-eligible beneficiaries throughout the U.S. Though much has changed with time, one thing remains the same: It’s all about listening to our clients and helping them make an informed decision on their Medicare options. Our very first office was in Downey hospital in Los Angeles, founded by a dedicated group of people who saw seniors struggling to find the right plan. A struggle we set out to fix, guided by the values that define us to this day.

What started out as a few dedicated people in a small office in Downey , California, now reaches thousands of people in Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, for me it has been a rough ride. I went through some personal trials during the last few years that have made me an even stronger independent woman today. Lot’s of people ask me…how do you do this all alone, single mom, working taking care of your kids and still managing to be on top. I always respond to them that I am not alone…I always have God by my side.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Golden Outlook an Optum Company – what should we know?
I am the Territory Manager for the Houston Market. Golden Outlook just expanded to Houston in 2017. My responsibility includes continuously recruit, build, and nurture independent agent/agency relationships. Achieve assigned sales/ membership growth targets. Ensure agents/agencies appropriately build and advance our brand and value proposition and represent our product portfolio and service offerings. Organize independent agent/agency activities, leads, and territories to ensure effective and efficient coordination across the territory. Develop community relationships to enhance overall local area marketing.
Our agents specialize in helping Medicare Beneficiaries/seniors to make the best decision when it comes to their Medicare options. We have Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare Supplement plans, and PDP plans that we represent. I believe what sets Golden Outlook apart from other insurance agencies is that we don’t compete with our agents or agencies. Us as Territory Managers or even our call center reps do not sell, therefore agents do not need to worry about anyone competing for their business. We also are backed by a fortune 500 company.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Well, I’ve mentioned Sabin Lopez. I have been truly inspired by him, and he has been my rock from day 1 in the Medicare world. I appreciate him so much and I truly am grateful that we crossed paths. I have to mention my current boss Regional Sales Director Kelley Vela. She has been an extraordinary mentor and has brought me up to speed on the Golden Outlook world. Kelly manages the entire central region for Golden Outlook and even with all of that on her plate, she has managed to be there for me and has been a tremendous support. Angelic Telles, I have to give her credit because if it weren’t for her testimony about how wonderful it was working for Golden Outlook, I might not be here.
I would also like to include a shout out to the President of Golden Plan Choice Agency Carlos Vega, Carlos has been an inspiration to so many of us with his story of success and I would especially like to thank him for introducing me to Kelley Vela. Also, shout out to all of my agency partners and their downline agents, if it were not for all of the hard work they are putting in day after day none of us would be successful.
Last, my family, my eldest daughter Alexis McCoy has been there for me from day 1 and has been a huge support to our family. I don’t know what I would have done without her.
