Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Musselman.
Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Arbonne first found its way into my life when I was a teenager – I fell in love with the clean skincare and makeup right away! I continued to use the products during my college years and throughout my career in TV News. But I honestly just figured it was a product line I loved; I never saw it as a career path. But God had other plans. I jumped into the business right before I got married, not because I felt confident about starting my own business, but because my husband said he believed in me. Plus, he’s a financial advisor and knows his stuff. So, with his borrowed confidence and my love for the products, I jumped in!
It has been about six years since I started, and I am grateful every day that we made the decision to launch my home-based business. I have found so much joy in helping people discover clean products for their families to use. I’ve met incredible people who inspire me daily to be the best version of myself. I have been able to truly plug in to the community of The Woodlands through networking and volunteering. And most importantly, I’ve spent priceless hours with my babies – who are now three years and 18 months – and we have our third baby due in September!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth fighting for is ever a smooth road and building my business with Arbonne is no exception. Having a business where you are your own boss comes with a unique set of challenges. One of the most impactful bumps in the road came when people heard I was leaving my TV News career to “sell lipstick” – that was their interpretation of what I would be doing, of course. I quickly learned people who spread doubt, or “dream stealers” as I call them, have no room in my life. It is hard to move past other people’s opinions, especially when you are in the building stages of something new. When you have your own doubts swimming in your head, and hearing other’s doubt you too can be extra hurtful. If you let it. I chose to prove those dream-stealers wrong by succeeding.
There have been many other bumps in the road, and I expect to experience more as I continue to grow my business. But I always chose to learn from them and come out of any struggle stronger.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

What were you like growing up?
I was so shy in elementary school! I had two friends, and only one of them went to my school. Never in a million years would little girl Jessica believe that she would grow up to be comfortable with public speaking, sharing her story on social media, teaching and training a team of entrepreneurs, and running a business that fully involves getting to know people and starting conversations with strangers.
My grandmother brought me to a musical theatre audition when I was in the fifth grade. That day started a whole new trajectory for my life. Shy Jessica started to melt away. I became passionate about theatre and being on stage. That’s what eventually lead me to a career in broadcasting. It is fascinating to me how certain moments of impact, like attending a simple audition for “Annie”, can completely alter your life.
