Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Escalante.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
First Time Moms is a non-profit organization founded in 2016. I first remember having a dream of an organization that solely focused on the in and outs of parenting back in 2010. Over the next years, tons of development took place. From owning a 24hr home-based daycare to becoming a parent myself things CHANGED! My passion always remained the same somehow though to be able to fully and effectively impact our future (children) by first impacting their environment (their parents), Though the birthing of FTM took place in 2016 we are still very much so a work in progress! Always looking for new ways to make parenting a little easier and provide the support needed to those who feel it’s something they can not do alone!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
From it’s “vision birth” in 2010 to its legal birth in 2016 and even to this very day it is WORK & SACRIFICE to make a non-profit work and meet the needs of those you desire to help! Grants are great and possible but in most cases these companies and individuals want to know you have been and are willing to do the work! Gratefully we have our lane and look forward to growing greater from here!
First Time Moms – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
FTM provides education, resources and support to parents in any role. Though not in existence yet, our goal is to provide a Parenting center that will offer a one stop shop for parents! Including free pregnancy testing, family and child counseling, birthing classes, play dates and so much more! While we are still building toward the goal we offer many of these services to individuals by way of our partners or through community centers! I would have to say the thing we are most proud is the launching of our FREE after-school program FUNDamentals! which is a financial literacy program for kids and their parents! We are targeting low income and income-restricted living areas to break the chains of poverty that can run throughout generations! What sets us apart most of all is we focus on ALL PARENTS with children of ALL AGES. Most organizations help with infants and/or small children or focus mainly on teens or only single parents or those that are low income… But FTM aims to assist ALL PARENTS!
