Meet Jidé

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jidé.

Jidé, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up a big consumer of music. Growing up in Nigeria, I was exposed to a lot of different genres and styles of music. I always found myself to be a fan of Hip Hop/Rap music/culture. Music had always been a part of my life from taking piano lessons to playing the drums and singing in the church choir like probably every other Nigerian kid. My mom had a cassette tape player that had a built-in microphone that I quickly started rapping/singing over. She would get so upset when she would listen to her favorite tapes just to hear that I had recorded some random noise on them.

Fast forward some years, we moved to the USA and I’m making beats for local talent in middle/high school. At the same time, I’m recording into an old laptop and dropped a joke song in high school but nothing major. I don’t take it serious until I’m about to graduate college in late 2017. I buy some studio equipment and start dropping music seriously

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy whatsoever. I’ve been focused on building a team but its really just me so things could be much better but I’m learning and I have a lot of things I wanna do. Gonna start dropping much more for sure. The world is gonna have to hear some of this music.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m an artist/producer. I think I’m known for the vibes I create, I think or at least that’s what I would like to be known for haha. I just do what I feel in the booth. I wanna push the envelope, I wanna try new things. I’m learning everyday and look forward to share more with the world.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think music is going to continue to evolve as everything else in life does. Its gonna be mad exciting to see.
